Five-star LSU running back commit Derrius Guice is one of six finalists for the U.S. Army Player of the Year award. Per Nola.com:
quote:The winner of the award will be announced on Jan. 3 in San Antonio.
Defensive tackle Rasheem Green of Junipero Serra in Gardena, Calif., LSU target and four-star athlete Porter Gustin of Salem Hills (Utah), Offensive lineman Martez Ivey from Apopka (Fla.), Defensive lineman Trenton Thompson Westover Comprehensive in Albany, Ga. and Chris Warren Rockwall (Texas) are the other finalist for the award.
Guice scored 28 touchdowns in the regular season for the Bears who reached the quarterfinals of the Division I playoffs.
Former winners of the award include college football standouts and NFL veterans like Chris Leak, Ryan Perrilloux, Mitch Mustain, Jimmy Clausen, Terrelle Pryor and Bryce Brown.
