Epps, who had a knee cartilage injury last summer, told The Town Talk Monday night that he had sports hernia surgery last Thursday and will be out for 6-8 weeks. Jones is hopeful that Epps will come back stronger than ever for his sophomore season.
Epps, a 6-9 forward from Tioga HS in Ball, LA appeared in 14 games last season and averaged 1.3 points and 1.4 rebounds.

Speaking at the LSU Tiger Tour Stop at Alexandria's Riverfront Center Monday night, coach Jones said that he is expecting big things from Epps this next season.

"Based on his versatility — he can pass and put the ball on the floor and shoot inside and out — he's going to be beneficial for us," Jones continued. "Trust me, he's going to be really good. We're looking for some special things from him. He's going to make a huge impact here."
