New LSU head basketball coach Will Wade has sent out his first offer to JUCO point guard Corey Davis from Lafayette, LA.

The offer came from new assistant coach Tony Benford but the Lafayette native was able to speak with Wade about his opportunity to return home to Louisianna. Per Scout.com:

Being the first offer for Wade at LSU was something Davis said was brought up to him immediately and is pretty cool to him, especially being a Louisiana native.

"Coach Wade is pretty cool. He knows what he's ready to do," Davis said. "He talked about how the strength and conditioning coaches are going to get everybody tougher and stronger. He talked about how he was going to change things about LSU Basketball for the better. I like what he was saying so it's really exciting."
Davis, who currently plays San Jacinto College-Central in Pasadena, TX, released a top five schools list on Wednesday and included LSU.

His top schools are Houston, Arizona, LSU, Oklahoma State, and New Mexico State.

We need guards along with every other position and I'm sure that's what Coach Wade will do. Completely build this team from the ground up. I also feel all current players will be given an equal chance to make the team and contribute. But I also see us needing some big time big men to be competitive in the SEC, or any conference, for that matter. Defense and rebounding and blocked shots can't be overstated! Bring that back, and you'll turn this program around!

This is so insightful. "We need guards along with every other position" and then hottest take of all, "defense and rebounding and blocked shots can't be overstated." You're a basketball guru

Even if we don't get him, just being in the running is a testament to Frank Williams Wade.

A leader on the floor, some one who can dribble penetrate, break down some zone defense would be a good addition.
