Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports
Who: McNeese St Cowboys (2-1)
When: Saturday, November 29 - 7:00pm
Where:PMAC (13,215, 45th NCAA)
How:
***TV: None
***Radio: 98.1FM
***Stream: SECN+
After a disappointing showing in the Virgin Islands, LSU comes home to the friendly confines of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center to face an overmatched McNeese St University. The owboys lost to their only division 1 opponent Baylor by a score of 80-39. In that game, McNeese St only hit 19% of their three pointers and 21% of their field goals. They were outrebounded 55-28 by the Bears.
Projected McNeese St Starters:
Jamaya Burr (6'0" 167 So) 9.3PPG, 5.7APG
Keelan Garrett 6'0" 80 Sr) 9.3PPG, 2.3APG
Kevin Hardy (6'2" 180 Sr) 7.3PPG, 6.7RPG
Desharick Guidry (6'5" 200 Sr) 17PPG, 9.3RPG
Austin Lewis (6'8" 215 Jr) 6PPG, 3.7RPG
LSU will be taller than McNeese at every position, and by a lot in the post. Still, it will give LSU an opportunity to clean up some of the serious mistakes LSU had this past weekend. They will need to shoot better and have much less turnovers on offense, and on defense they will need to work through screens and defend much smaller opponents.
LSU will need to see continued success from Tim Quarterman who had a career best game versus Clemson. He scored 16 points and pulled down 7 rebounds playing at the 1 and 3 position. LSU also received very good minutes from John Odo who had 7 points and 4 rebounds in 24 minutes of action. LSU will need to shoot better than they did in the Islands. Against Clemson they shot 37.7% from the field including an abysmal 7.7% from three.
Prediction:
LSU 85, McNeese St 63
