BATON ROUGE, LA. – The LSU men’s basketball team defeated Missouri, 78-70, on Saturday afternoon inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

With the victory, LSU improves to 13-5, while Missouri drops to 13-5 on the season.

In the first half, LSU seized control early with a 10-0 run. LSU shot 11-of-25 (44%) from the floor, 5-of-13 (38.5%) from distance and 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the free throw line. Missouri went 8-of-24 (33.3%) and a solid 9-of-10 (90%) free throws. LSU closed the half carrying a 10-point advantage, 37-27.

Despite being outscored, 43-41, LSU maintained its lead in the second half. LSU made 14-of-34 (41.2%) field goals, five from deep and 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the free throw line. Missouri recorded 12-of-22 shots for 54.5 percent and four from deep. LSU tallied 20 rebounds to Missouri’s 14.

Marquel Sutton led LSU in scoring with 26 points on 7-of-14 from the field, two treys and 10 free throws. Max Mackinnon earned 20 points on 7-of-19 shots along with four treys.

Jayden Stone was the leading scorer for Missouri, finishing with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting to go with three treys.

The Tigers are back on the court Tuesday, Jan. 20, traveling to face Florida. The game will tip off at 6:00 p.m. CT at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Florida.
