Source - Sunday night, Geoff Shackelford with The Quadrilateral reported DeChambeau tried to enlist the help of President Donald Trump during his spat with R&A rules officials before officially signing his scorecard. DeChambeau, who was fighting to not be penalized for inadvertently improving his lie after a wayward drive on the par-4 fifth hole during the second round, reportedly tried to have Trump fight on his behalf to not be penalized.

The R&A denied the request, and DeChambeau's antics – which many players criticized – also didn't help his favor in overturning the ruling.

Earlier this month, Trump intervened with FIFA to help U.S. men's national team World Cup soccer star Folarin Balogun have a red card rescinded, allowing him to play in the Round of 16 match against Belgium.
