Check out Andrew Shapiro set three Guinness World Records for pull-ups when he did 7,306 pull-ups in 24 hours. The previous 24-hour record was 6,800. It took Shapiro only 18 hours to do this...

Shapiro was inspired to break the record by his father's five-year battle against colon cancer.

There is a big difference in a "strict pullup" and a "kipping pullup / butterfly kipping". A strict pullup is an isolated movement and the kipping pullup is a full body movement. Neither exercise is bad or wrong and they have their purposes. It comes down to preference and the goal of the workout. CrossFitters do strict, kipping, and butterfly pullups in WODs. Which ones they do are dependent on what the purpose of that particular WOD is (whether it's as many reps as possible or whether it's a strength workout.) 7000+ strict pullups is amazing.

I know RollTide MJ, my point is that I despise the Kipping Pullup. It's bullshite, kinda like pushups on your knees. It is a pushup, it's just half hearted and bull shite and doesn't fully accomplish the goal. Unless the goal is to flail around like a dying fish while somewhat pulling yourself up. In a gym. With other people. Watching you look like a goddamn idiot.
