Freshman kicker Lauren Luttrell tried out for the Virginia Tech football and impressed Coach Beamer. Beamer told the Washington Post...
quote:

“Right now, it’s kind of tough to come out there and get a lot of attention. Things are happening so fast right now,”...“But I was impressed with her and we’ll bring her back out there in the spring.”
An invite to spring practice is pretty sweet. Apparently, she booted 10 extra points and a 31-yard field goal for Spotsylvania High School in Spotsylvania, VA, last fall.

I have a good friend that tried out for our high school team after the original kicker got kicked off for failing a drug test. She did better than anyone else that tried out, but didn't make the team because she was a girl.
