Can we calm down? It's just fishing...

quote:

A Texas man has been arrested and is facing up to 10 years behind bars after weights were found in his fish during a fishing tournament.

There was something fishy in the water during the Lake Fork Lure Company Tournament on March 8.

According to reports, the authorities were contacted to investigate a fish submitted by competitor Curtis Lee Daniels. During the weigh-in, tournament organizers found three weights in the largemouth bass using a metal detector.

The same style of weights was found on Daniels’ boat after he had already won two hourly prizes worth $2,500.

Cheating in a fishing tournament is a serious crime, and in this case, because the prize pool was over $10,000, it’s a third-degree felony.

As a result, the consequences, if found guilty, are severe and come with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.

Yeah if you're being bullied and defending yourself from KNOWN bullies, usually there are protections. Hopefully their would be protections.

A lot of fisherman are shifty. Thankfully, TD fisherman seem to be honorable people.

Dang. I’d think a few thousand dollar fine and go to the next guy or gal.
