re: Would you guys make this firearm trade? - dawg23
Other than a Nylon 66, there are very few Remington firearms that I'd want to own. There are many other choices that afford greater reliability. The same is pretty much true for their .22 ammo....

re: 9mm single stack with safety 4 carry - dawg23
Try a Walther. My wife just got a walther CCP, and we both think it feels great with different sized hands.
For others considering the the CCP, it's a pretty good pistol (if you want small gun with a manual safety). Just be sure you buy one that was (a) made after the March, 2017 r...

I have two in .22 Magnum. One functions well, the other not as well. (I think mine are actually/technically called an AutoMag II's). ...

re: Desert eagle - dawg23
I'll just echo the cost factor. Expensive toys unless you reload. I have one in .44 magnum. Never fired it (I know that sounds stupid). Kahr has special pricing for instructors (currently limited to one gun per year), and I got tired of adding the little Kahrs every year (PM9's, K9's P9's, et...
The fact that you are asking before purchasing shows that you are 100% more intelligent in this area than people who have no handgun experience and just go out and buy one. Gathering information is the first step in ensuring your personal protection in every situation.
Well said. Too...

re: We bought hanguns and shot them - dawg23
Oh, and I don't get the right thumb over the safety thing. That's uncomfortable as hell. Probably just my hands.
That's to help ensure that you don't accidentally activate the safety, while shooting, due to the recoil impulse (muzzle flip) of the pistol. (If 2-3 thugs were trying to ki...

re: More "Proof" of Design Problem in SIG P320 - dawg23
Alx: Please don't take this the wrong way. I know from your posts you're intelligent and analytical. And I have inferred from others' posts that you're an attorney (more evidence you're intelligent, 'cause law school isn't for dummies). So, I have to ask how reliability, for you, is a non-issu...

re: More "Proof" of Design Problem in SIG P320 - dawg23
Just now seeing your query. Also saw your mention of 1911 and M&P. If you get a 1911 I'd make sure to get a reliable make (e.g. Kimber, deservedly or not, has a worse reputation for reliability than a Springfield. I am no expert on 1911's (despite owning three of them). I'd recommend that she ...

Maybe Headslash is a friend of my wife. She takes issue with ~ 60% of what I say, and at least 90% of what she thinks I'm gonna say. Or maybe -- just maybe -- has become an emoticon that means "I agree 100% with everything you've posted."...

More "Proof" of Design Problem in SIG P320 - dawg23
Another example -- never buy a newly designed pistol for self defense. Wait a few years until all the defects have been identified and fixed. I'm sure the P320 will (someday) be a fine pistol [link=(http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/08/08/p320-failed-without-even-dropping-no-plans-test/)...

re: Best pistol for home protection? - dawg23
Well, it is and is isn't. A single hit with a .17 rimfire is superior to any number of misses with .45 ACP for example. Overcoming intermediate obstacles on the way to the target isn't a myth. Now, using a cartridge of modern design is there a hell of a lot of difference between a 9mm,...

re: boat battery testing? - dawg23
you can pick up your own load tester for like $10 at harbor freight.
Those cheap load testers can be very unreliable -- as are the ones that are used at places like Autozone. The best local (Baton Rouge) source for testing batteries is Interstate Batteries on Airline (near Siegen)....
