Read through a bunch of the posts here and seemed like the Smith and Wesson was a good quality .22 Semi Auto. Thanks for the input on those threads.

Mostly going to be plinker and used for squirrel hunting. We usually hunt with shotguns but I took my .22 out this year and had a lot more fun. Hunted with a bolt action which I really like but cycling between misses seemed to alert the squirrels to my location more than the actual shot. Plus I just needed a reason to buy a new gun. I'm going to roll with the iron sites for awhile and see if I can get efficient with them, but what is the board's suggestion for a scope if I decide to add one? Think I have a burris really inexpensive scope on my other .22.

I'm also 4 months into the wait list for a .22 silencer so some subsonics are going to be needed within the next 5 or 6 months hopefully.

Waiting for the rifle to arrive at the FFL. This is the one I ordered.

I run a cheap red dot and a cheap flash light on mine.

Sight it in for 45 yards or so and it's point and click for everything

Ditch the irons or flip ups entirely.

Eta: i run a kinetitech barrel shroud on mine for a little extra front weight.

I've got a couple, well, one now. I gave my Son the other one.

They're quality AR platform 22LRs. With ammo prices having gotten the way they are it's nice to be able to train with an AR in 22LR.

You can add a red dot and laser for a lot of fun.

Buy extra mags, as many as you can afford.

I have one and run a Sparrow can on it. Fun to shoot and stupid quiet with standard velocity ammo.

They are awesome guns. Don’t overthink it on optics. I have a sub-$100 Bushnell red dot on mine.

They aren’t very loud with SuperSonics out of the box. I put a Dead Air Mask on and it’s ridiculously quiet.

This is really where I’m at also. When we go to the camp we shoot hundreds of rounds of .22 each trip target practicing. .22 is the most logical round when you’re pulling the trigger that often.

I had rapid fired my .223 ar maybe once or twice before and I rattled off two magazines last trip. Was a ton of fun rapid firing but to hell with blowing $30 worth the ammo in 20 seconds or less.

I ordered a couple of extra magazines so I’ll have 3. But I may grab 2 or 3 more once the gun gets here.

Suggest "cci suppressor" it is quiet like a CB but cycles fine.
fun at night with a thermal. Makes you feel like a kid again.

I run a Rugged Oculus on mine, when I occasionally-do run it supressed, mainly because they're made here in SC and I got an insanely good deal on it but, there are a lot of 22LR options out there. I'd make sure to choose one that will handle 22Mag and, if you wanna have an all around 22 can choose one that is rated for .223.

I rarely-do run a can on mine because most 22LR bulk ammo is so dirty and I just wanna blow and go running the stage ... and I hate cleaning cans.

I bought the CMMG .22 BCG/mag combo conversion kit for one of my ARs. Works for me.

My brother has one of these, and I have to say it's a cool little rifle, but I was disappointed with the accuracy of it. It's hard to beat a Marlin model 60 for general.22 stuff. I have one of the remmington model 77s, which is cool, because it uses the box mags, but it's not nearly as accurate as the Marlin.
Hoping CZ will do a .22mag version

The most accurate 22LR I own, by far, is a Marlin 39A.

My most accurate.22 is a very old Remington model 550-1, but's clunky as hell, too damn long and looks like somethin Jed Clampett would tote around.
It will shoot any ammo you put in it, but it cycles very slow. It's a cool old rifle though.

Were they doing that micro- groove thing yet when that was made?
I've got one of those lever-matic models in .22mag, but it has some feeding issues. It's an accurate shooter though if you feed it by hand. It has the micro groove.

Well, I have several 39As so I'm not sure. I'll have to look tomorrow. I think it's a 1967 mfg date so it probably is pre micro-groove but I'll double check to make sure.

'67 would be pre-plated 22LR so I'm not sure why the old ballard rifling would be more accurate with plated pills. Then again, all three are very accurate but this one is insanely accurate.

That little levermatic that I mentioned doesn't even have serial number, so I guess they had started doing this even back as early as the late 50s?

Always great when you snag one of those standouts. My old Colt AR is like that. You couldn't ask for better and it feels like an old pair of shoes.
Also Scrooster, if I haven't already said it, it's good to have you back, I wondered about you for a while. Ooh frickin Rah!

How well does it work? Does it create the potential for fouling anywhere in the action / chamber?

I know the feeling man. Some a-hole posted a buy 2 get 2 reels free the other day and I now have 4 spinning reels that I'm going to have to buy rods for.

I went to the Fort Worth Gun Show on Saturday. They had a couple of M&P 15-22s there but they were the black one and one with some khaki or flat earth or whatever you want to call it. The one I bought was $50 more than the ones at the gun show, but I wanted the camo pattern on it so I ordered from GunBroker. There were several camo 15-22s on GunBroker but this one has a rattle snake camo print to it and I haven't seen any other camo quite like it.

I watched this review of the M&P. Dude is a pretty sharp shot. Won't say he's the best, but he seems to hit damn near every target he fires at.
