Guys goofing off in a couple of airplanes and hit the cotton picker. The original video has sound and you can hear the impact. Looks like part of the landing gear laying on the ground. Plane crashes into field and the guys jump in their service truck to go check on him.

Because of the glare I can't make out if they are old crop dusters or old Stearman's

More like they wanted some video for social media, and it was probably a younger person trying to get some hours in. Probably why one dropped a trail and the one that hit the picker didn’t.
If that farmer/picker driver wasn’t ok with them buzzing the picker he would have been cussing like Hell. Especially after the plain hit the picker. He was on the back just filming instead of making phone calls.

Luckily it didn’t cause a fire, it don’t look like a lot of wind was blowing though.

I don’t know any crop dusters using double wings around me. I would assume it was a cheap/older plane they used to fly and build up hours on and possibly scout with. I some pilots that scout for ducks on the MS River with them because they can take a buddy.

All kinds of federal pesticide and environmental laws violated, by spraying cotton that has already been defoliated

They’re Stearman’s. Lots of Stearman’s in the Delta. This happened around Gunnison, NW of Cleveland.

They’re not spraying anything. They’re “smoking” the guys on the ground.

The pilot, and his passenger (his wife), survived.

I saw some pictures where the landing gear peeled the hull off the top of the baler.

Jesus, what a couple of dumb asses.

There are bold pilots and old pilots, but no old, bold pilots.

I pulled that quote directly from my flight instructor, and he was a hurricane hunter.

But yea I get what you’re saying.

Yeah, it was on the Hood’s farm. Pickers are a custom crew from Texas. Picker driver and video taker was a South African.

My dad used to tell a story of his crop duster when he first started farming. He was turning in his order to the pilot who flew fighters in WW2 and my dad said something like “I’m sorry to be making you work around all these power lines.” The pilot looked at him and plainly stated “Those power lines don’t bother me. You should have seen it over Saipan.”

That pilot ended up dying in a crash in one of our fields. Putting out the first load of defoliant that fall, he pulled up and the wing broke off and nose dived. We named the field after him.

Those appear to be Stearmans and the FAA will soon be in touch with them.

Survive Nam to get killed by a plane that couldn't handle the ride. Damn shame.

I was told the pilot of the one that didn’t hit the picker is the owner of Air Repair.
