re: Been a while since I read the Federalist Papers.....found this gem: - Gr8t8s
It's a shame that The Federalist Papers aren't taught along with Civics courses. They explain the mindset behind our founding fathers so well, yet people largely ignore them.
That's exactly what I thought the first time I read them. I never knew they existed until I did the resea...

Been a while since I read the Federalist Papers.....found this gem: - Gr8t8s
Madison quoting Jefferson:
All the powers of government, legislative, executive, and judiciary, result to the legislative body. The concentrating these in the same hands, is precisely the definition of despotic government. It will be no alleviation, that these powers will be exercised by a...

re: Tax Foundation Analysis of Bernie's Tax Plan... - Gr8t8s
Since the other study showing it would be a net positive was discounted because the economist was a socialist (?), we have to also discount this one. Tax Foundation is more than willing to lie to get lower taxes.
Except for the fact that they pretty-much conclude that Hillary's...

Tax Foundation Analysis of Bernie's Tax Plan... - Gr8t8s

re: Outlaw the Lobby Indusrty and Implement Term Limits - Gr8t8s
In other words, people stay in office to grow wealthy and get millions in campaign contributions. If you remove lobbyists (which would then remove the million $/year jobs the congressmen get when they leave office), then the playing field and fundraising is much more level....

re: Are you better off than you were 8 years ago? How about 4? - Gr8t8s
I'm better off. It doesn't have anything to do with the President.....I would be doing the same as long as the economy isn't in the total shitter. I've changed professions in that time (found a niche and specialized.....which is the secret to most success). I attribute any success or failure in busi...

re: Why are right wingers so scared of everything? - Gr8t8s
Wow. You just proved that you don't know shite about the 2nd amendment. There are plenty of times IN THIS COUNTRY where the 2nd has been infringed. Some have been struck down by the courts (v. Heller, v. McDonald), and others that haven't been challenged. You're the only one talking about backgro...

re: Why are right wingers so scared of everything? - Gr8t8s
Elaborate, if you will.
I've pointed to the British several times. Most liberals and leftists view the British society as what they want here, so I think it's an apt comparison. They started with freedom of arms. Starting in the late 1800's and early 1900's, they began the process....
Terrorism is a minimal threat to Western society and culture.
3,000+ people from 9/11 say hello. Oh, wait. They can't. Loosen border security and get rid of our intelligence systems and you'd see it happen way more often.
Have you had any of your guns taken from you? That...
