I know it's cliche to quote Orwell, but I can't help but be fascinated how spot on he was

Hearing Biden and his media partners gaslight us that we should be happy about inflation and the economy, makes me wonder if they could simply piss all over their obedient sheep and convince them they should be happy that it's raining.

Orwell-1984 on chocolate rations
quote:

For the moment he had shut his ears to the remoter noises and was listening to the stuff that streamed out of the telescreen. It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grammes a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be REDUCED to twenty grammes a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.

He nailed it to be sure.

Crazy that he could be so suspicious of central power and still be a proud socialist.

It's actually a crazy mix of Orwell, Huxley and Mike Judge. go back and watch Idiocracy, but not as a comedy but as a dystopian horror movie.

I always remember watching that and thinking, "How the hell could we get to that?" We are fast tracking that right now.

It’s like Atlas Shrugged, 1984, and Brave New World had a threesome and produced a baby.

That’s 2022 America

They're using both fear and reward at the same time

Orwell’s problem is that he believed in utopian socialism with little interference from the state. After nuclear weapons hit the scene, he may have realized the impossibility of that stance and, while still a socialist, was a less devout one.
