We will not get a single new service just because we have a new terminal.
Anyone wishing to service MSY can now---there is plenty of gate space.
There may be new service come but it won't be because of new terminal.
The point of that new terminal--just like the point to the new parking lots, the new rental car terminal, the new terminal refreshment of recent years past that will now be obsolete--is $$$$$ to politically connected.

When will we get a British Airways nonstop NOLA to London Heathrow
I spoke with the New Orleans Aviation Board yesterday and was told an announcement concerning "a new carrier" will be on Oct. 20th.
They would not give anything else up. This MIGHT be BA??

Anyone heard as to whether BA may offer introductory fares for the new NOLA route? Bookings are running around $750-$800 each way. For comparison, Condor round trip is only $850.

Booking in March/April was about $700 for a round trip
I'm surprised Air France hasn't made a go for NOLA. I mean cause, culture, and all.

Today's the day for the inaugural London-New Orleans nonstop on BA! Anyone on the New Orleans-London flight tonight? Hopefully someone is able to grab some pictures of this flight for here
BA 225 operated with a 788, leaves London now (3:10pm) arriving in New Orleans at 7:10pm
BA 224 leaves New Orleans 9:15pm arriving tomorrow morning in London at 11:37am

I'm flying that route in mid May. Happy it's finally here.

Curious how they flew crew here for the flight back today... not like the flight crew could fly in and do a turn.

If I had to guess they flew an extra crew to DFW then to MSY, think that's the closest nonstop location they have. Granted those flights are on a 747 so not sure if the crew deadheaded all this way a few days ago and got to spend some time in nola.

I could be completely wrong but when I flew BA last month I was looking at their map of destinations and the flight from MSY looks to be the longest flight (time wise) to LHR in the continental US. I thought that was interesting.

BA flies to Austin, Dallas and Los Angeles (my first guess as to what may be slightly farther than MSY). After investigating further by looking at flight times, London- LAX is clocked in at 11 hr 10 min, DFW 9 hr 50 min, Austin 10 hr, and Nola 10 hr. They're all pretty close timewise. Crazy you can get from LA to London in almost the same time from here to london

In that case, how is the first NOLA flight timed at 8 hrs. 22 minutes (depart 9:15 pm, arrive 11:37 am)?

I was looking at departing London to all those US destinations. If you look at the return flights from the US, they should be about an hour quicker due to tailwinds

They got some good pictures/videos on the Facebook page " Nola Spotters.

This is what I saw when I heard about the new route. I'm not concerned enough about 1 layover to pay the prices I saw at that time. Hell, I would have felt bad about making my employer pay that much more than the other options.

I assumed they would be fairly cheap starting out, was looking to book something

Going near that North Pole plays tricks on you.

The route must be selling well because BA just upped it to 5x weekly. They added a Tuesday turn to the schedule.

Nice, hope to see it in the 400-500 range in October when all flights go on sale

That's good news. This flight may go daily in the future.
