Change your handle please to IBNoFreeman.
   You are correct in the fallacy. BUT I remain IBFreeman because what I propose puts money in the hands of citizens that is now taken by government even though it is not immediately available. It also drastically red...

re: Chess instills new dreams in kids from rural Mississippi county - I B Freeman
I can play chess but much prefer checkers. Checkers were very popular in the South and in Mississippi years ago. Dominos too. I have seen very good chess players that couldn't beat good checker players in checkers. Dominos is a great game to develop math skills. When I was a kid almost...

re: I will happily give up mortgage deduction for lower rates - I B Freeman
Why make me put 15% of my income in an individually owned savings account, and make me pay a sales tax?
Your employer would contribute half. It would be in effect forced savings. Social Security would still be in place but you could only draw it once these savings were deple...

The IBFreeman plan for Social Security calls for a national sales tax to eliminate the payroll tax and the money now spent on payroll taxes diverted to individually owned savings accounts....

I think the politicians would find that become the population has aged the mortgage deduction is not as big a deal as it once was particularly if it was eliminated as a part of a tax plan with lower rates. ...

re: I will happily give up mortgage deduction for lower rates - I B Freeman
Define lower rates
Much lower but even lowering them 15-20% would be worth it to me as far as the mortgage interest deduction goes. I would absolutely support a flat tax on all net income over say $25K of 20%. Forget the deductions. ...

I will happily give up mortgage deduction for lower rates - I B Freeman
There seems to be this idea that the tax code cannot change in a manner to do away with such things as deductions for mortgage interest. That is crap. Wouldn't bother me if all deductions were eliminated and we had a simple flat tax on all income....

re: Trump would not have been elected had he ran supporting a BAT - I B Freeman
Ahhhhh...this is why the big companies are for the BAT.
Companies like Dow are but many others are vehemently opposed. Dow (merging with DD) and Monsanto would have a windfall from a BAT. Unfortunately the premise that importers would then manufacture here is not true. Importe...
How will the BAT cost jobs in Louisiana.
Everything passing inbound through the ports of Louisiana will now be 20-25% more expensive. Oil, chemicals, bananas whatever. Do you think Motiva is going to refine a single gallon more gasoline after a BAT than before? Of course not b...

re: Trump would not have been elected had he ran supporting a BAT - I B Freeman
Seems like a large gamble.
It will put companies out of business. What the government will be doing is taking their cost of good sold---not their income or even their sales. Domestic oligopolies will emerge--for example the chemical industry, the oil industry and the pharmac...

re: Trump would not have been elected had he ran supporting a BAT - I B Freeman
FWIW, a BAT might be a better form of taxation than an income tax because it taxes everyone that purchases imports.
No it absolutely would not. A BAT will raise cost for consumers and it will make companies that import intermediates non competitive and give near monopolies to ...

re: Trump would not have been elected had he ran supporting a BAT - I B Freeman
The money is lining up to oppose a BAT. If Ryan and Trump go to the wall on this it will be the end of a republican majority in Congress. I have never voted for a democrat for President but I will not support any one that puts such a discriminatory tax on American business. ...

re: Trump expanding ME war - I B Freeman
That is exactly right. The President--whoever that may be--should be able to explain to the American people just exactly why we are putting American soldiers in harm's way and just exactly what the end goal is. Not Bush, Obama nor Trump has done this. There is really is no more important is...

Trump would not have been elected had he ran supporting a BAT - I B Freeman
If a BAT had been aired out during the campaign Trump never would have won. When people understand the implications of this horrible idea they will hate it. A BAT will not add one single job to the economy--particularly in Louisiana--but will cost hundreds of thousands....
