re: Does Dodge make good trucks? - I B Freeman
I have a 08 tundra 5.7 crew. 200K When I say not a wrench has been on it except to change oil, tune up and change timing belt as scheduled and brake shoes that is what I mean. The battery lasted over 7 years. It was a Panasonic. ...

She is an outstanding appointee and did as she was smartly instructed to do in the hearings. Any freedom loving, small government person that cares about education should be happy she is the appointee. Teacher union loving folks will hate her....
I don't forsee his model becoming widely accepted.
Well did you see the internet coming? Look higher ed is on a bubble. We should not invest another cent in brick and mortar. There may be a function for some of the brick and mortar we have but the peak days of on campus resi...

A High-Tech Rebirth From Higher Ed's Ruins--WSJ - I B Freeman
JBE and the leges should read this. [link=(http://www.wsj.com/articles/a-high-tech-rebirth-from-higher-eds-ruins-1485123354)]LINK[/link]
By DAVID GELERNTER U.S. colleges are failing—the fancy-pants institutions along with the rest. They nearly all have fundamental problems, and the...
That person still has to be processed and vetted (and kept track of once he or she is here).
That is correct and every Western country is capable of that. Are you saying we are not?
Your open border scenario is anarchy.
In what twisted way do you not find my pr...

re: Giuliani floating healthcare trial balloon??? - I B Freeman
Give people straight-up cash, and they generally make poor choices with it. You may not, but many will. It's the reason so many people profess that they won't give a homeless guy a buck, but they'd buy him a sandwich. Ever check in on big lottery winners a year later?
Oh that is ...
Just frick off, IB. I've been a business owner for 30 years. You think because something works for your business it has to work for all businesses.
Did I say everybody here has never bought insurance? Would you rather be on some employer's insurance or on your own policy? W...
My wife elects to get their insurance (even though mine is slightly better on the coverage) because they WILL NOT pay her anything extra for not taking part in the group plan.
Of course they won't pay her extra--they have a group. They would have to let her join it by law anytime s...
Then why hasn't that already happened?
See the mindset here? These people would rather have some benefit of unknown value than cash. Young, single men are just the opposite. They could care less if they are even insured. They want the bucks. You take away the tax deductibility ...
You've made about 5 different assumptions in your above statement any of which could invalidate your argument.
Well I know $15000 a year is more typical than not for per employee health benefits that the poster described. I know too that groups of any size do self insure to a ce...

re: Giuliani floating healthcare trial balloon??? - I B Freeman
On display here is a narrow mindset of employees that have never really bought health insurance on their own. First off get rid of this assumption that groups are less costly than individual policies. That is rarely the case and generally involves pre existing conditions. Trump has said he is goi...
not me. My employer offers that amazing almost zero premium health insurance. There is no way I could get that coverage for the price they pay for it.
I bet you could. I bet you they would rather give you another $15000 a year than to keep giving you health insurance. They proba...

re: Giuliani floating healthcare trial balloon??? - I B Freeman
You shouldn't be so tied to an employer. You should be happy to have your own policies so you can leave when you wish. Dental and vision plans are rarely ever a good deal unless they are free. Even then the employer is paying for them. ...

re: Giuliani floating healthcare trial balloon??? - I B Freeman
If employers are giving health benefits now they will send all their employees looking for jobs if they cut them out and do not give them raises. It is thousands of dollars a year--many thousands. Why would any employer want to risk running off his employees? They are already spending the money...
I do not get the desire to take employers out of the equation. Seems to me it will cause more people to become uninsured due to pre existing conditions.
Why would it? They are planning to keep the ACA requirement that pre existing conditions be ignored. LOOK as an employee yo...
It would increase our costs dramatically. It costs the same to implement and install 1 individual policy as it does for a 10,0000 life group. Doing it 1 at a time will bring higher admin costs which will raise premiums to account for that cost.
Why would an employer even be involve...
