Beaver creek mid week powder days are the best. I learned to ride there and have taken many family vacations there so it holds a special meaning for me. Never any lines during the week and if you stay in grouse and lap it and the glades off the lift, you can find fresh lines all day.

Just bought my 4 day Utah Superpass for next weekend. Booking an Airbnb in Cottonwood Heights. The 3 of us will be snowboarding, so Alta out, so I figure we'd do 2 days Snowbird, 1 day Brighton, 1 day Solitude.

I'm still a beginner so I'm sure Snowbird will kick my arse.

A backcountry skier was saved in a harrowing rescue Monday after getting trapped under several feet of snow because of an avalanche south of Silverton in San Juan County, the Silverton Standard & the Miner reported. Two skiers from Durango were in the Deer Creek area on Coal Bank Pass. As they were leaving the creek to return to the road, they realized they were in the wrong spot and tried to make it down a slope to U.S. 550.

Scary shite. This guy is lucky his friend was quick to act, had the proper BC tools, and is clearly trained in full burial beacon search and rescue. He saved his buddy's life. The Avalung definitely helps, but only for a little longer. Glad to hear it was a rescue and not a recovery. Usually doesn't end so happy.

Damn! Glad he came out alive. I'm pretty sure Monday was high avy danger from alpine to below treeline. The map for Crested Butte area was blinking black yesterday for extreme. I check the CAIC daily and have never seen't that before

There was a weather advisory that mentioned roof avalanches. That's when you know it's getting real.

Our roof is ready to break real soon. So much snow around town now.

Gonna go make some night skiing laps tonight. Take out some long carver skis from the shop and rip it up.

You're gonna have to teach me how to make a respectable GoPro edit. You're pretty damn good at it.

I'm at DIA heading out. Let's all cross our fingers the big storm hits Whistler while I'm there

Honestly, I just clip my segments on my phone and plug them into the GoPro app "Quik". It has a few preset video types to choose from and makes a pretty good baseline edit to work with. I tweak it for awhile but the app does a lot of the early work.

I don't wanna spend hours on an edit, so it's fun to get one done pretty quickly.

If I didn't pull that move, I wouldn't have been first chair. And I like being first chair.

It was a split second decision and it paid off.

My GoPro actually fell off on impact of that big air at the end. I landed it with a big impact, so I guess my knee hit the GoPro chesty mount and the clip popped out of the mount. We searched for like 5 minutes and right as we gave up, a guy I was skiing with found it in the snow.

Ahh, I guess I can respect that haha
Good stuff. A friend of mine arrived at Breck today...he's never skied before. I don't think he understands how lucky he is with this kind of powder!

I forgot you have to worry about what levels of the mountain are getting rain vs snow here My friends who chased snow in Tahoe the other week only got to ride one day due to wind and rain instead of nice, fluffy pow pow.

The epic storm I was expecting might be fricking rain on the mountain at Whistler. I also went cheap on my rental whip and Fox Rentals gave me a minivan with bald tires. I got stuck earlier in about an inch of snow/ice in Squamish. I'm going to have to try to hitch a ride to Elfin Lakes to do some touring tomorrow. There is a valuable lesson to be learned here; the grass is not always greener on the other side. Not happy but I'll be chasing the goods to Jackson the next time one hits there and getting on Corbett's

Gotta love inversion mornings. Cloudy in town and at the base, but once you get past mid-mountain, it's clear and sunny. Keeps the crowds off the mountain early.

Made two or three fast groomer laps and then ski'd an awesome lower mountain zone at Steamboat for first time. Found a bunch of gnarly stuff to play on.

I need a new pair of skis for everyday ripping. Missing my Soul7s.

Heading to Beaver Creek on Friday. Never been before but ski'd Vail and Breckenridge countless times. Going with family. Any insight on the mountain itself and what areas to hang around? Any and all info is appreciated!

What is the ski level of everyone going? If you have beginners there is are several nice green runs at the top of the mountain for them. We typically go up to mid mountain and go down Harrier over to the Larkspur lift and will lap Larkspur until it starts to get tracked out. We also love lapping Rose Bowl as well. Grouse is fun on a powder day but it's all advanced terrain and the glade out the gate at the top of the lift has some fun tree skiing. Centennial at the end of the day is a fun run as well. We typically don't ski the arrow head/bachelor gulch side so can't recommend anything over there. If Golden Eagle is groomed, do it as well.

BC is nice as they have upgraded several slower lifts the past few seasons and crowd levels are typically nice, especially on non weekend days. Make sure to also be at the base at 3pm each day for free chocolate chip cookies. Have a good time, this is my first season in about 10 years I won't be visiting BC.

This is the forecast for Snowbird for this weekend. I'm guessing with this snow I'll probably have to take the rental car to the park and ride instead of trying to make the drive myself unless Avis upgrades my full-size to an SUV.
