I called the 800 number and pretended to be a frat bro saying that our entire national system of 65,000 members has banned Patagonia clothing. they kind of took me somewhat seriously because they transferred me to a Pr managers voicemail and urged me to describe what is going on and see if I could forward any documents supporting my frats stance

Anybody have frat letterhead?

All of the outdoor specialty companies make good products...and they're all roughly the same price point.

Columbia tends to be the least expensive of the specialty shop offerings, and I would also say Columbia is the biggest bang for your buck.

As a free market Conservative, I applaud her. How else is a person to know which companies are ran by Marxist pieces of shite? They are a private company, and their position is now available to be known by the public. I now hope the free market crushes their business to rubble, or those with a brain in the company fire her arse.

I don't know when these liberal CEOs will learn their lesson but I'm fine with them continuing to pull stunts like this.

Patagonia about to take a major haircut.

Hipsters might enjoy their clothes but I highly doubt they can replace the dollars of those that have jobs.

It just seems like a rather kneejerk "green" reaction to me, though, unless someone can outline the specific grievance here as to what they are "resisting."

And I really love National Parks.

The granola crew out west has been worrying about the privatization of National Forests (primarily) and Parks for a few years....I think there was a fed case in Montana or some legislation proposed by a Montana congressman a year or two ago.

That being said, if you know anything about Patagonia beyond clothing you know they're a very liberal company...this isn't a surprising stance. If this was LL Bean saying this I'd be surprised.

Which I imagine was once privately owned until the feds made a grab for it? In order to preserve it?

The reason there is so much Fed Land out west isn't due to expropriation. It was never ceded to the states.

Wrote their customer service an email explaining I was a loyal customer since the early 1990's when they (along with Northface & REI) made better wet/cold weather gear than what the Marine Corps issued. That because of their CEO's public declaration that neither my family nor I will ever buy another stitch of Patagonia clothing (my boys were sort of pissed tonight when I passed that along). Received an email saying that they promise to respond within 24-48 hours.

This thread is cute. This has been their type of stance since the company was founded.

I don't give one smidgen of a frick what a companies leadership thinks about politics. If you make a good product or have a good business model I'm going to consume.

I'll be wearing my Patagonia with LL Bean boots while I eat chik fil a before going to shop at Target.

Their sales will increase.

Trump is Al Gore in reverse. Sometimes policy has the opposite effect.
