I climb, hike, bike and paddle into some of the most treacherous areas this country(and a few others)has to offer. In fact, I've hiked Patagonia. I understand better than most the importance of gear that does what it says it will do. Patagonia's problem is, they're not exclusive. And in all honesty, quality has gone down greatly. Couple that with the comments from their CEO, give me OR, The North Face and Arcteryx all day.

One would think these stupid CEO's could look at the sea of red on the 2016 electoral map, but just another stupid lib who lacks any common sense...and cant see as far as next week...all down hill from here.

Oh so you walked up a mountain. Of course you can do that in almost anything. Try backcountry skiing, ice climbing, or packing a 70 meter climbing rope and gear in a pack of that same gear you went on your 6 hour hike with and get back at me. Not that they are the best but Patagonia makes some good mountaineering clothing and packs. They also care about the environment and have done more than y'all realize for sustainability, conservation, and humanitarian efforts.

What a douche

Listing the North Face with those other companies shows how much you know. They sold out to publicly owned VF Corporation long ago and the quality went to shite as a result. OR is good and Arc'teryx is the best in the land IMO

Good effort on the stereotyping but I drive a Tacoma. Need clearance to get to a lot of the places I climb

And on the topic of child labor. Patagonia investigated themselves and acknowledged there was some fricked up stuff going on and did everything in their power to try to make it right. You probably didn't even read your own article but it states Patagonia is an accredited and founding member of the Fair Labor Association, and that this is an industry wide issue that not many companies are taking any action against.

What Patagonia did in response

Patagonia is a B corporation

Fratagonia no more, I suspect. Way to alienate one of the largest support groups of your niche brand in a horrible retail environment.

If you consider Huntsville the middle of nowhere for an engineer you have lost it.

I read the articles and realize Patagonia recognized the issue and did something about it. Just surprised that you went to bat for a company with that kind of history. Not very hippie like imho

ETA: Still patiently waiting for your links concerning Patagonia sales numbers

Patagonia doesnt make their money selling the high end mountaineering stuff...they make it selling t-shirts, hats, and light jackets to the everyday person.

Bezos doesnt stop me from using Amazon, but there isnt 5 other Amazons out there. I can get nice looking jackets from NF, Marmot, etc. CEO is dumb

You don't know what you're talking about regarding TNF. Not once has a piece of TNF kit failed me. I don't use them as much as I used to because I prefer gear sewn and made in the US, but to imply their quality has slipped is hilarious. Maybe that TNF jacket you strut around in pretending to be an outdoorsman on your way to the Starbucks isn't of the same quality, but it's not designed for the types of locations I visit.
