There's this girl I used to have a huge crush on in college. She BLEW UP. I'm talking well over 300 pounds. She got into Crossfit. She has been doing it for over a year and, honestly, she hasn't made great strides.

It's weird because she's one of those people who is 100% CF all the time.

I wonder if she isn't at a good box.

And fwiw I have never known someone in Crossfit that thought they were a better athlete than someone else because they do crossfit and another person doesn't. But that's just me.

I just lulz at the poor people I see getting into crossfire around here from off the coach...they get demoralized...then berated...then injured...then blame themselves for not being elite enough

Also, any half decent trainer I've met encourages doing more than just crossfit to see greater strides. I do know what you mean about poor coaches though. I went to a place one time and it was immediately evident this guy was clueless, so I never went back.

But the two places Ive spent any significant time at have extremely knowledgable guys that really know their stuff. Maybe I've just gotten lucky, but that's been my experience.

So it works...... and yet you call it a sham you ungrateful once fat guy

The elitists "I crossfit so I'm in better shape than you". That's not true.

Stop hanging out with douche bags. Most people would say the "I crossfit so I'm better than you" is not a true interpretation of most people who do crossfit

Coaching/Training

Go to a better box (that's the crossfit term for gym for anyone who doesn't know)

$$$

It's not that much more than a nice gym. Plus if you go to a good box with all legit trainers than you pay for the coach in every single class. Not just to use the facilities.

It works for a lot of people and not so much for others. I feel it is (especially my gym) more catered towards unfit people than fit people. People who have no clue how to get back in a gym and go work out can join a crossfit gym and have someone work with them to get healthy.

The notion of the "cultish" atmosphere is stupid. It is the same with college classmates who become friends, people you may fish with, play softball with, play golf with any of which become your friends. You make friends with people who you spend time with and have the same interest as you. So naturally if you go to a crossfit gym and workout at the same time with the same people friendships will form. Same thing with people becoming friends with co-worked and such. It's no different

Crossfit is a sham

I mean, 99.99% of everything to do with 'working out' could be labeled a sham.

To say crossfit is more of a sham than any other thing out there, other than good, old fashioned hard work, is unfair.

I do a mixture of crossfit and bodybuilding. I don't go to a box. I don't pay for stuff i don't need. Most others are not this way. BUTTTTTT, they are getting in better shape, so who cares.

And more importantly, 99.999999% of people work out solely to be better looking when their clothes are off. So, they WANT to look like Froning. Who cares. This whole, one workout isn't as good as another is silly. Just workout, know that humans are vain creatures, and do your own thing.

No shite. I don't know much about crossfit, but it sounds like a Scientology type cult........People post the weirdest shite on FB about it. I don't get it.

If you want some exercise go for a nice run and lift some weights....
