About time for the Sharks to call in Captain Quint to put them and us out of our misery.

Losing to any team that gave Michael Del Zotto a regular rotation spot for sure....

Caps trade a 2nd and 3rd round pick for Glencross. He's not a difference maker by any means, but they gave up almost nothing of any value for him, and they still have Buffalo's 3rd rounder.

He's better than Chimera, so it's an upgrade, but not a significant one. But it was on the cheap.

I'd like Erik Cole myself.

Oh, check this shite out that came out today:

quote:

Will DePaoli of Inside Pittsburgh Sports: Trade that didn’t happen: Two sources say the Blackhawks approached the Penguins about a deal earlier this year involving Chris Kunitz, potentially Simon Despres and Patrick Sharp. The Penguins weren’t really comfortable with moving Kunitz in-season, something they could consider in the offseason. The Blackhawks would be interested as it would shave just over $2 million off their cap. Kunitz lives in Chicago in the offseason and his wife is from there.

That would have been turrrrible. Sharp is having a terrible season.

4 years older, $2.5 million more in cap hit, and hasn't scored 20 goals in 4 years. He has 18 this year, so he'll likely break that streak, but only because he plays on a Stars team that goes all out attack all the time, and he's shooting a ridiculous and unsustainable 18%.

I wouldn't want Cole. I'd love Bergenheim, but Florida A) aren't really sellers now and B) wouldn't trade him to a team they are chasing. Of the options, GlenX is likely the best (assuming the Patrick Sharp rumor is completely unfounded, which I think it is)

Rangers rob Coyotes blind for Yandle. And they get out from under the Girardi contract? Ugh.

Duclair, a first-round pick, John Moore in Yandle deal. But there other components as well.

Per HockeysFuture, Duclair is their top prospect. Or at least tied at the top. Plus a first round pick, not too bad.

Yandle is a very poor defensive player at least.

Baloo, I'm likin the trades so far. I'm glad Green finally has someone to protect him now in Gleason.

Also, I have a friend in the organization and they said the Caps are working on bringing in someone big tomorrow. That top line winger we have been looking for. I'm really stoked for tomorrow.

Cole was traded to Detroit for two prospects and a 2nd rounder. Full trade is DAL gets Mattias Janmark, Mattias Backman, and a 2nd rounder for Cole and a conditional 3rd. Dallas gets the pick back if Det reaches ECF and Cole plays 50% of the games. Not bad at all

A very nice price for a guy we had no interest in extending.

Glad the admins have recognized this season is over. Hopefully the coaching staff purge happens next

Ive been waiting for Ruff to go for awhile. It needs to happen. Nill is a smart man and I hope he realizes its time for someone new with all this talent.

Yeah, I'm liking it, too. I'm not sure I want them to make another move. I do think the East is for the taking, but the long term health of the team is good. Players 25 or under right now, on the big club: Kuzy, Latta, Burakovsky, MoJo, Wilson, Carlson, and Holtby. And Backstrom is still 27 and Ovie is 29. That's a good, young core that I don't want them touching.

So, they have two options now:

ONE. Go super all in and add a big 1st ling wing. This means you likely can't re-sign Green.

TWO. Stop at these marginal upgrades and view next year as your all-in year. In the offseason, hand out raises, and try and keep Green and maybe add a free agent.

Honestly, I like option two. I don't want to do anything too costly in a year that the Caps are likely the 7-seed.
