Sorry, meant to have this up before Tuesday night. Been busy. So, here is your unofficial NHL refereeing test. Assess the penalty:
The actual call on the ice was two minors. Both on Ovie (holding and roughing). So apparently, being ridiculously awesome is a 4 minute penalty when someone tries to check you into the boards but falls down. But only if they are a Penguin.

Has anybody else's NBCSports feed been messed up all night. It's not my TV or cable because the Toronto v NJ game was clear and so are other stations.

Yup. Getting checked but not falling down is now a double minor. Even the NBC booth which, let's face it, is pro-Penguin and anti-Cap (well, anti-Ovie is more accurate), thought it was a ridiculous call. Ehrhoff initiates the hit, loses his footing, and falls down.
It was a remarkably poorly officiated game, as Downie was allowed to be, well, Downie. And Perron made it his personal mission to cheap shot every Cap blueliner. Hey, but that's what the Pens do when they start losing: cheap shots and goonery. It's their MO.
And it's beautiful. I love watching their whole team pout. Caps have been playing like doggy poo, so thank God we got a slumpbuster.

That is seriously one of the worst calls I've ever seen in any sport.

Can you believe this was the same team the Jackets beat the holy hell out of last night, Nut? I mean, the Caps kept cutting the lead to one to suck me in and make me watch the whole depressing thing, but... ugh. Y'all delivered a beat down.

I first read this as "Predator's Cup here we come." Sometimes a reading fail isn't really a fail. We gonna bring home the silverware.
As for the penalty, Penguin should have gotten a 2 minute minor for embarrassing himself, family, team, country, and NHL. You have to protect the shield! Oh...wrong sport. But yeah, that call is just awful.
