People don't understand the clarkson-Horton deal. They keep cliaming CBJ made a horrible move, they don't get the salary ramifications.
CBj is a small market team, they cannot afford to pay Horton till '19, while also paying another player to play in his spot. 2 salaries for 1 roster spot. Now they are paying 1 salary for 1 spot, and if you get anything from clarkson, it's a bonus.
Toronto can afford to pay players to sit at home, and they get to use that cap money for other uses. They have cash to pay 2 players for 1 spot.
Both players deals are up in '19. Toronto got the needed cap help, CBJ wanted a player on the ice for the salary.
Horton is done, he's not coming back.
Horton at 6mil + another roster spot salary or
Clarkson at 4.75mil(5.2 cap hit)
Win, win for both teams Hortons cap hit was 5.3mil, clarksons is 5.25

Yeah Clarkson clearly isn't NJ form, but I don't get the Jackets fans bitching. Horton is likely never going to play again and they would have ate his contract because they had no insurance on it.
Sounds like Dubi fricked up his neck. This team is haunted. What in the frick.

I hadn't seen a Florida home game yet this year. That place would be a ghost town without the Hawks fans there tonight. Pretty strong "Let's Go Hawks" chants too.
I didn't realize it was that bad down there.

I don't see how Miami or Tampa have kept teams this long.

Tampa's actually doing well as a franchise. Exact opposite for Florida.

Which is shocking. Don't tell me every tom dick and Harry in the seats is a Canuck snowbird. Or Yankee from the USA. Tons of retirees and prior who DGAFF about hockey in that state. Poor Atlanta lost their NHL team TWICE. wish Houston had a team. I'm a 7 hour drive away from the nearest NHL Arena.

Tampa's got a fanbase and it's a great experience from what I've heard. Miami is just a crap sports city based on everything I've seen. Hard to pass up that potential money though.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Panthers turned into the new Nordiques in the next few years. There's rumors of a 4 team expansion, obviously (hopefully) Vegas, Seattle, Quebec City, Toronto, and Seattle. We know Vegas and Quebec have Arenas, Toronto's tough, and Seattle's potentially got an arena. I just don't see how four teams are added while Florida and Arizona continue to get little support.
Houston's unfortunately a no go unless the Rockets' ownership owns the team and they appear to have little to no interest.

Miami was great decades ago when all they had was the Dolphins. Heat have gotten support due to their recent successes. The shocking thing is how the Marlins have poor support with all the Cubans in that city who supposedly love beisbol. Lol. Makes no sense.

Tampa is damn near perfect. City loves the Bolts. Beautiful arena and fantastic atmosphere. Absolutely thriving.

I hear that the geography for the Miami team is awful, it's like 45-60 min from Miami out in a swamp.

Yes it is now. The old orange bowl was great in a great location BACK THEN. now it's in a crappy area as the decades have passed by and of course the original joe Robbie new stadium is far away.

It's Florida son. Lmao. It's shocking anything hockey related is making it there. Kudos to them. Like I said they can't claim all their fans are snowbird hockey fans either. Or retired Yankees from up north. Good for them.
