The tap dick measuring contest among BR bar owners is absurd. Its almost like none of them actually drink craft beer.

Yup. Pelican House was a giant disappointment. How many taps do they have? 120 or so?

The cove is still my favorite bar in BR. Their taproom is perfect. About 20-30 taps. Rotating with stuff you won't find anywhere else in BR.

I've been told that's the gold standard for beer bars and everything else is for the peons.

I wouldn't go that far, but it's a damn good model.

So a bunch of old kegs on the not so popular beers? The location, idea, and place is bound to fail imo. More thought should have gone into this. And if there was a lot of thought thrown at it, stop thinking and go open up a Sonic or something.

Fighting tigers, very true. The day BR gets an Avenue Pub, all the Nola people will somehow be going to World of Beer with the rest of the metarie trash

I love it. Typical for people to bash shite that comes up in BR, then complain because we rarely get anything new or different.

I will try it out bc it sounds like a bar Id enjoy going to downtown instead of fricking City Bar and the like.

This isn't new or different though. We have 8 of these bars in town already.

I think a little north of 120. I think they only failed in really trying to find an identity. Well the inside setup could be much better. Having 120 something taps crammed in the corner and a huge open space in the middle gives it a weird feel to the room.

Whatever the place is by the mall (not Bjs) has the setup that Pelican House needs.

Back to the identity part. They've been trying to please too many people since they opened. They should have picked who they are and just stuck with it. ie. Bulldog.

Pelican started off putting tits and arse serving and the girls didn't know shite about the beer. The whole walking in and not knowing if you seat yourself and get sat was a clusterfrick. It feels very corporate at times. Almost too nice inside. Now they have bands on the weekends? Get that shite out of here. Oh an empty ten feet of space....pool table!

So true. I'll drive right by A Pub and get on the I-10 and take the 20 min ride out to Veterans.

Although part of what makes A Pub is it's location

Truth. People can hate on it because of 'the model,' but it's a hell of a lot better (on paper) than the current downtown offerings.

It has been a while since I have been, but I remember way more than 20-30 taps.

I think they are closer to 60 now, and will add even more when all the draft moves to the Corporate Drat place a few doors down.

Still though, they do the best job at getting new stuff. Although sometimes the prices leave me to order whatever is on fire sale.

I got us a little of a hookup when World of Beer opens in Metry. Talked with someone on the startup team last night

Maybe not that much in the scheme of the entire BR area, but compared to the rest of downtown?

It being downtown for 1. And I am not referring to the idea being new, but if yall hate all the other ones in BR so much why not give this one a chance?

It may be absolutely horrendous but I am not going to shite on it before I try it. It's like asking someone who doesnt like brussel sprouts, if they have ever tried them before and they say no. Makes no sense.

95 beers on draft, plus "a substantial amount" of beers by the bottle, Delgado told NOLA.com.

"It will, by far, be the most downtown," he said of the beer selection. "It may be one in the top three of the city."

Sounds inviting to at least try next time I'm in BR.

Its going to have a bunch of taps. I get that.

The downtown crowd will still be the same though. Thats part of the reason why I think it will fail. That crowd wont keep a beer bar afloat and the # of taps wont bring in the regular crowd that drink at the other beer places imo.

I agree that may likely be its undoing. If that's the case and Delgado loses his money, it's a win win.
