Me and you prolly know each other...cause I used to party there all the time with Kevin, Luke, Antoon, and Bayard back in the crazy days. I don't talked to Bayard too much anymore. I only hear about his new bars on here or FB.

Go take a walk around downtown BR on any night not a Friday or Saturday. Its a ghost town.

You cant really compare the downtown nola area with the downtown BR area.

Have you been downtown recently? It sounds like you haven't. I'm not saying everything is there. The fact of the matter is that it will be far more livable down there once the large residential projects on 3rd street and the IBM building are completed. There is a large amount of work going on down there in earnest. It won't be long before you are proven wrong.

completely agree...but just as much you can't say DT BR is not way better than what it used to be. And is on the upswing. I am not saying its changing over night, but its headed in the right directions....although slowly. Which is why I said this bar was more of an investment. Hopefully they got a good price, and if BR for some reason doesnt develop like they thought, they can sell and break even. But I think it will start making good money end of 2015.

It starts at 5:00 downtown, bright side is no reservations needed.

Wasn't long ago the CBD was a ghost town outside of business hours.

There are anther couple of hotels coming also.

But amid all of the praise over development happening on Third Street, one business owner issues a few words of caution.

"This is a time where we're at this bubble period. It's either going to burst and people are going to show up, or you'll see it crash, because it's not enough people down here to support the businesses," warned Michael Labat, co-owner of the 3rd Street Pub and Blend Wine Bar. "People are waiting to see if the residential projects are really going to take off. It's exciting, but a very nerve-racking time."

So until then I am right? I can live with that.

This argument has been going on for years. The push for downtown BR to get bigger has been in full force but progress has been minimal and slow. I hope it turns out great but until then, its the same old tired argument from the pro downtown crowd.

Early 2000's were sort of like this. Warehouse district was the place to live if you were young and worked in the CBD.

I really don't get all the fricking bitching in this thread. I'm just happy there will be at least a decent beer bar downtown.

And the new grocery store is supposed to open in January, along with a lot of new apartments in the same building. This isn't "planned". It's under construction and almost finished.

Dude I know you know this doesnt happen overnight. But they have made strides, whether small or large. Lets just not bash it blindly without acknowledging it is moving forward.

not really, considering the things you say will never show up downtown are currently under construction and nearly completed.

Exactly. Right now there are 200 taps within a 9 iron of each other on Corporate Blvd, but I can't get a decent beer on tap downtown.

I'd love to go hit golf balls in the general direction of the Pelican House. That place is god awful.
