love horror movies and my goal is to watch 1 per day until next weekend

started Friday and have seen

trick r treat- B-, good cheaply made comedy/horror movie. nothing more/nothing less

the conjuring- B+ my favorite of the 3, good old school story

event horizon- B- loved the sci fi angle but overall wasn't as scary as I thought. dude on facebook said it was the scariest movie hes ever seen, he needs his head looked at.

so far I have rosemarys baby, the shining, and carrie to watch. never seen any of them

what else do you recommend?

I can recommend some. But they won't be the usual suspects that are posted in these threads and you probably won't like them.

Italian horror during the late 60s and into the 70s. They were the masters of horror during that time period.

Mario Bava
Dario Argento
Lucio Fulci

Do some research on them and find out what their consensus best movies are and you'll discover films that were innovative, stylish, and gorgeous to look at. But chances are, many posters will find their films to be poorly acted, poorly written, and dull.

Here's a short list:

Suspiria
Black Sunday
Black Sabbath
Zombi 2
Kill, Baby...Kill!
House By the Cementary

I went on a horror binge last year but with classic horror comedies. They are some of the funnest movies to watch.

Dead Alive (Braindead) - my favorite
An American Werewolf in London
Re-Animator
Evil Dead I and II
The Return of the Living Dead

If you are watching Rosemary's Baby, give Repulsion a try. It is a stranger and more haunting experience than RB in my opinion.

I usually watch Scary Movie around this time of year.

But seriously, the first Scream is so well done. Remember the flood of poorly done slasher films in the last fifteen years all owe their origin to Scream. It manages to provide a pretty awesome critique of the genre.

Ok, goddamnit.

Texas Chainsaw '74
Halloween 1 and 3 (it's corny fun, deal with it)
House on Haunted Hill (Vincent Price)
Suspiria
Messiah of Evil
Bride of Frankenstein
American Werewolf in London
Evil Dead 1 and 2
Re-Animator
Night of the Living Dead
Eyes Without A Face
The Shining
The Thing
The Fly, Videodrome

I love An American Werewolf in London. It's probably the most hilarious horror movie I have ever seen.
