I have two little girls and have taken them both on dinner dates. One was for sushi and one was to Ruffino's.

Who else here did this?

My stepdaughter is 12 or 13 (I can't remember) and I'm supposed to take her on a date soon. I should probably make it more of a habit.

Seems pretty weird to me to call it a "date". Just seems you should call it a dinner.

I don't think it's weird.

My dad does that for my nieces when they get close to the age when they'll start dating. Got this whole routine down showing them how they should be treated and whatnot. Hopefully he'll still be doing it when my little girl is older.

Yea, I agree, but I don't have a daughter so maybe I am missing something.

Why do men morph into such weird fricks when they have a flock of girls?

I think it's adorable and a great idea. Show the girls how they should be treated and how they should behave.

It's weird for a father to spend time with his daughter?

Mine will be 4 soon. I try to take her for things. She's so adorable. We went fishing this weekend and she caught her first fish.

It's so important to give them that special attention.

Because if daddy doesn't, they'll start looking for it from someone else.

I just think "date" is the wrong word for this. Date implies romantic connotations to me, so that's not the right word. Just take them to dinner and then treat them like a lady.

This is 100% of it. Guys (like me) have field days with girls who don't have any expectations on how a guy should treat them.

No, but it is rather peculiar when the Father refers to the time spent together as a date.

Why is it called a "date"?

Can you not call it dinner with your daughter?

I agree. Just sounds weird to me but I also don't have kids so maybe I just don't get it.

When she gets older I will.

She is 3 now, but I make sure that we do plenty of daddy and daughter stuff.
