and, why is it creepy that my daughter will hopefully expect a teenager to respect her the same way her dad does when they go out to eat?

Good thing - cause I see the spell check master of the OT is lurking.

Da fuq?

If you don't give her that special attention she'll end up having daddy issues and banging bikers and doing porn.

Well, that might be a little bit of hyperbole...but yeah, daddy issues makes freaks out of chicks.

Take her on daddy-daughter dates all the time, plus open the door and do all the old school gentlemen things for her to expect that when she gets older.

Father-Daughter bond is special

I was the first born, so when my brother came along, Dad put SO MUCH effort into making sure I was still treated with just as much attention as before while others were focused on the new baby.

Are you not aware that our girl's form their ideal of what to expect from a man based on their experiences with their father during their childhood? In short, for better or for worse, you are your daughter's main example of what a man is supposed to be. So with that in mind, you're damn straight I want her comparing her actual dates against me and the example I've set for her during these years.

I spend a lot of time around teenage kids.

You better make sure your daughter has her mind on right.

My daughter is 11 months old now and I absolutely cannot wait to do this with her. I love spending time with her.
I take her grocery shopping and I talk to her as if she's my best friend through the whole store.

That's why I married a woman with an absentee Father.

You don't want your daughter to grow up like that though. No offense to your wife or anything. I have Daddy issues too.

One thing that's always stuck out to me as a father of a daughter is something my wife told me about little girls when we first found out our second child was going to be a girl. She told me that little girl's crave their father's attention and approval more than just about anything thing else. Our daughter is 6 now and it's always in the back of my mind to make sure she gets these from me.

Daddy issues can be fun.
