I think that's a good thing. We generally find our femininity later, and a good relationship with Dad usually means you'll be a kickass chick later.
I feel like a bad/no relationship with your father contributes to annoying personalities/attention whoring.
ETA: NOT ALL. My best friend has no father and she's amazing, albeit has her own issues elsewhere.
There's something to be said about the people you date actually wanting to spend time with you because you're cool as a person.

That makes me feel a little better.

Yes, when she opens the door and has that amazing look on her face, it cannot be explained, especially to the idiots on here thinking a "date" is sexual.
I know right, have to chalk up most of the ridiculous responses to the general makeup of the OT and realize most posters here are soulless..

I first read this and I thought you were talking about chaperoning for your daughters and their little boyfriends or whatever . I was imagining your average ranter sitting at a table with his daughter and some little punk showing off his new flat bill hat and DC's. I would probably pay to see that from afar.

I've taken PEEEJ's daughter on some dates.

This kind of thing reminds me of praise and worship music for Christians where the themes are being "in love with" Jesus.
I think the purpose is really good, but the analogies to romantic love just seem a little off.

Is the dad on a daddy date supposed to teach the daughter how much tongue to use on a first kiss?

So, like a date, right?

I am. That ain't my cup of tea.
I had one chick call me "frick daddy" once and that was almost enough to tell her she needed to go.
Almost.

Calling it a date is creepy and confusing for the kid. A father should be spending time one on one with his kids from the time their little doing all sorts of things... eating dinner, seeing movies, going to ball games, museums, etc. But waiting until your daughter is 12 or 13 and then taking her out to dinner and calling it her "first date" is just weird.
You can say it's just about showing her what a respectful date is supposed to be like, but you should have been showing her that her entire life by treating her, her mother, and all other women you encounter with respect. Really, this whole "daddy-daughter date" thing is just dads that can't handle the fact that they won't always be the most important man in their daughters' lives.

Why is it called a "date"?
Can you not call it dinner with your daughter?
This. Dates are romantic. OP is probably going to make his daughter pledge her virginity to him until she's married. Yikes.

My daughter is almost 4. We have gone on multiple "dates" to Chick Fil A or whatever "restaurant" she wants. My wife works evenings and weekends alot (RN) so I have a lot of daddy daughter time. As she gets older I do plan on bringing her to nicer places for special occasions just to do something nice for her.
