DOLAN SPRINGS, Ariz. -- A shooting range instructor in Arizona was accidentally shot and killed by a 9-year-old girl who was learning how to shoot an Uzi, authorities said on Tuesday.

According to his boss, Vacca was a great guy, with a great sense of humor, very conscientious, and very professional. Well, I'm willing to concede half of that.

Been posted but surprisingly your thread is much better. I agree, 9 year old girls have no business firing an automatic weapon.

GFY. No one deserves to die in a horrible accident. You would be ashamed if you had any.

Oh, well, I apologize for the overkill. Will her parents do the same?

Get what you deserve? What kind of twisted shite is that? Why do you "deserve" to get shot for showing a 9 year old how to fire an automatic weapon? I fired my first automatic weapon probably around 12 or 13 or so but wouldn't have found it particularly odd at 9 if the opportunity arose.

9 year olds fire weapons all the time. I'd say this is a more of a tragedy than anything else but I'm also not a sick frick with an anti-gun bias.

I fired an HK5 on 3 rd burst for the first time in my 20s (with no real training, granted) and was.shocked at how unwieldy it was. I can see how it could go out of control if someone isn't used to firearms, has a small frame, and doesn't have the hard shut off of 3rounds.

Saying the guy deserved to die is pretty shitty but I do question his expertise if he thought this was safe.

this is the kind of thread I wish everyone who ever said "despite the disagreements I think Rex is a good guy" could read

yelling at boy scouts, mocking disabled babies, advocating forced sterilization of women...
where is the good?

I agree. It's like thinking you can teach an 8 year old to drive a manual transmission car. You're asking for trouble.

So wait... you can do something unwise that endangers somebody's life and NOT deserve death?

I wouldn't say "get what you deserve" but it has to be pretty unsafe to put a fully automatic uzi in the hands of a 9 year old, no matter how close you are. Check out the article, her arms are like toothpicks.

I am sure you were a huge kid at 9 so I guess you could make an exception for 9 year olds with the arms of a 16 year old, but there really isn't a good reason to give a 9 year old this type of gun.

No one's arguing that it may not be the wisest thing, but it 'a not THAT outrageous in a controlled environment. I'd bet there is a lot more young kids out there firing these weapons all the time and you don't hear of any incidents. Accidents with firearms happen. Negligence certainly is often a big contributor.

Rex's comment is disgusting, inexcusable, and like most of his comments, comes from ignorance.

Agree that a 9yo should not be operating this weapon.

I saw the video. He did not DESERVE death. He was an instructor doing what the girl's parents asked of him.

I don't know the guy, but it is evident America could use more people like him.
