9 year olds fire weapons all the time.
I'd say this is a more of a tragedy than anything else but I'm also not a sick frick with an anti-gun bias.

So soon someone else will die while they are exercising their right to bear arms

Well aren't you the American hero.

I'd say your parents were as irresponsible as this girl's. Fortunately, no one died when you were spraying the gun range.

Yeah, that's what this conversation is about...

I don't understand how you could state that it was a bad combination in your first sentence and then call the comment "no good reason" pointless and subjective. Obviously you are worried about gun freedoms overall but you should have to admit there is a line between responsibly handling a gun and being reckless.

I have, multiple times in this thread, noted that irresponsibility and negligence are contributors to gun accidents. That one 9 year old was not capable or ready for such an endeavor does not therefore illustrate that no 9 year olds are. I'm opposed to overreaction and universal application of ideas after events like this, which ALWAYS takes place from the left on gun related incidents. They like to extrapolate their outrage to other gun issues and use it for rhetoric against pro gun rights persons. I can assure you firearms rights enthusiasts are as sickened by this as anyone and would be eager to critique the circumstances of this incident to identify where error and negligence occurred.

Do you have a good reason for a 13 year old to fire one of these weapons? A 17 year old? An adult? That's the issue I have with that argument. It's common from the anti-gun left and it is worthless in a reasoned discussion.

quote:

As for the rolling eye thing it was in response to your thinking you would be able to handle such a gun at 9 in spite of your obvious physical limitations at that age. As a kid you might think it was fun but when you grow up you should realize how dangerous it was.

I didn't shoot any automatic weapon at 9. And when I later did, it wasn't ultimately my decision, it was my parents'. So my thoughts on whether it was fun or not at the time were irrelevant to the decision.

Again, I don't condone just any 9 year olds firing automatic weapons or any weapons for that matter, but I also don't draw blanket conclusions based off of ONE incident.

Childish and irrelevant comment for rhetorical purposes.

I'd say you are ignorant of firearms, safety of firing them, and certainly my family's personal conduct when firing them.

Essentially, you've highlighted your ignorance and oblivious nature of spouting it off as if it were based in knowledge.

Yes, that's part of a discussion another poster and I were having.

Why the hell would you need to have a 9 year old with a sub machine gun? The cult of gun worship claims another victim

How happy were you to read this story Rex?

Some of you anti-gun liberals are just plain sick.

So how do you feel about teenagers driving automobiles and having senseless accidents that results in deaths?

But you are! You showed us all how great you are when you succeeded in mowing down a target at 13 without a single human causality. American Hero I tells you!

Could give not one shite what you think.

At no time should any pre-teen be armed with an automatic weapon. It highlights poor parenting.

This conversation has zip to do with political affiliation.

Typical of your type to make it so. I could give a shite if her parents were card carrying rush limbaugh fans.

They were still stupid fricks to place that much power in a kid's hands.

Shitty parents.

According to your logic, we also sacrifice kids for alcohol, tobacco, now marijuana, all differing forms of transportation, etc. The horror! Child genocide! Abortion is cool though.

We license people to drive.

Any a-hole can mow down people on a gun range.
