Anniversary is Saturday and we have a room in the 1/4 towards Esplanade. Thinking of starting early and just hitting restaurant bars for nice drinks and apps...until we can't. I'd expect first come first serve at the bar, when you'd otherwise need a reservation, and that they'd serve us a couple of plates without needing a table.

What places should we try? We'll be dressed in cocktail attire, or at least she will.

I had some nice small plates at Yuki Izakaya on Frenchman, but they're only open dinner hours.

The best place to do this is Galatoire's. The place is basically a bar that happens to serve food. Just sit down (a table for two is easy enough), order some drinks and apps, and when ready mosey on down to the next joint.

Sobou is good for drinks & snack. Arnaud's French 75 for a drink.

I did Sylvain last white linen night(this weekend). Be aware.

The bar at R'evolution would be a good stop.

It's going to awfully hot to stroll the FQ from bar to bar in cocktail attire. I'd love it in the mid to late Fall.

ETA: Agree with BO on Galatoire's, as well.

Motivation to have a plan. Instead of reservations, I'm making a map of the recommendations and we'll just decide based on place/crowd/heat if we stop of keep walking to the next one. Some of these sound like musts.

She's into French culture, so I'll try to find a place that may be doing something for the French Film Fest this weekend. Satchmo Summerfest down there as well.

Out of the two, I think making reservations somewhere sounds easier.

Well, you clearly have a way with the ladies. Heaven knows I would love for my husband to take me walking around New Orleans for our anniversary, in July, in cocktail attire, following a map of places people suggested but are all too crowded.

If she's agreeable to your plan, that's a good thing. If someone planned this for me this time of year, I'd refuse to do it and I'd be really ticked off about it. Hopefully, she's not wearing heels with the cocktail dress.

Cocktail attire may be a bit of an exaggeration. Nice enough to be welcomed into Sylvain or the like...She made me walk ALL the frick over random arse towns in Provence (two years ago today), generally all over France, and it was hot as frick.

I don't know the cut off time for the coat requirement at Galatoire's if you sit downstairs, so check that out if you're not planning to walk the FQ in a coat and tie.

R'evolution has tartare at the bar I think. Any place we stop in that has it, I'll eat. More than one would be epic.

Today's the day. Making a map of places to check out. Any nice places with a bar. Bayona sounds good...didn't know they had a bar.

Bar is really small, it's in the back .. didn't know you could sit and drink there thought it was only a service bar.

Are you guys just sticking to the FQ? If not I really like Cellar Door in the CBD. It's on a side street behind the Civic Theater (Lafayette St.) and there's only a tiny sign to mark it. Walk down the alley to get to the entrance and you can sit at the bar, outside in the courtyard or at a table. The drinks are fantastic, they have small plates, and the atmosphere is sexy.
