Why does Tiger never play in Louisiana?

I've heard from a few people that he got burned on a deal, but they didn't have all of the details. Anyone know the full story ?

I know Zurich isn't that big of a tourney, but it's covered on cbs and has drawn some decent names in the past.

shady deal that went down with a kids clinic about 12 yrs ago where Tiger donated money to the boys and girls club and that money was never used for what it was intended for

Cue the butt hurt responses (either those calling Tiger butt hurt or those butt hurt about Tiger).

Once upon a time (probably on TD) that Tiger tends to take off 2-3 weeks both before and after the Masters. Compaq/HP/Zurich Classic always falls within that time frame.

1. "Pro golfers hate TPC. The course is terrible. It doesn't always punish bad shots, and in some cases it punishes good shots. You'll rarely see big name golfers come here." - From the mouth of several pro golfers themselves.

2. It's right after the masters.

Not in the past few years. Other than Phil and Tiger, a lot of pretty good golfers play in it like Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Vijay Singh, and Keegan Bradley for example.

Even without the Morial stuff, I don't believe Tiger would have ever played here. The New Orleans PGA Tour Stop has only attracted players with star power 3-4 times since the 80s. I recall 2 years in a row that Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples, and Vijay Singh (right after Vijay won the Masters) played back in 2000-2001. The year after Katrina was pretty good, IIRC, when it went back to English Turn because of the damage to TPC. And there were a couple of decent, not great, years at TPC over the past 2-3 years when Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell, Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, and a few other highly ranked players showed up.

But the New Orleans PGA Tour stop has never really been able to consistently attract star power. You won't see Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy, Phil, or Tiger consistently coming to NOLA. And I don't think there's much they can do about it. The only thing that might have a chance to make NOLA really attractive is to have the new course at City Park that is planned turn into a really good design that players love.

I really hope the new course does it. I want to see that tournament in the heart of town, not Avondale.

Well - we need a leader to get this started....does it start at the lt. Gov's office?

Also, we need to shield the pros from the local charities - have that go through the PGA Tour. Is this tiger stuff for real - some individuals in the NOLA area screwed him over?
