Any bars around HOB have decent craft beer selections? I have some time to kill down there.

The place that was once called Club Decatur has an ok selection for the FQ. Think it's called Indusrty now but I could be wrong. Walk out house of blues and it's to the left on the corner of the river side of the street.

Then you're looking in the wrong part of town. FQ is no place for Beer Mavens.

I was going out on a limb. It's slim pickings for craft beer in the FQ.

Right next door to HOB is a place called Claire's Pour House, or something like that. Used to be called Ol' Toone's. Anyways, they have a fridge full of old, probably expired craft selections. No real standouts. Bonus is that they have Wii bowling on their projector. I've spent many nights in there bowling and drinking expired Hopitoulas.

Ryan's Irish Pub is down the block on Decatur (toward Jackson Square).

Nothing to write home about, but a fair selection of what you think would normally be at an Irish pub...(Guinness, few Abitas/Nolas)

I always find it strange that Baton Rouge appears to have a higher craft beer appreciation than New Orleans. More Craft bars (or bars with a large craft selection), and stores than NOLA. I guess all the hipsters are too busy with their PBR.

BR Bars
The Cove
Pelican House
Bulldog
Radio Bar
Chimes
Chimes East

BR Stores
Calandro's
Matherne's
Cuban Liquors
Beverage Store
Whole Foods
Alexander's

Now i don't live there anymore, so maybe there are some places that i don't know about, but from what i hear the only bars are really just Avenue Pub (which is the best in the state, if not the south) and a couple others. As far as shops, y'all have whole foods, Rouse's, Stein's, Martin's Wine Cellar (selection in BR is absymal).

I might have been exaggerating a bit. Last time I was in there they had stepped up their game a little bit. Back when it was Ol Toones their selection was bad and wouldn't have surprised me if it was expired. Seems Miss Claire gets it.

Not to mention the Zapp's Beer fest at the Rural Life museum was 50 times better than the crappy beer fest in Champions Square last year.

There may be some truth to your comment, but this thread is about the French Quarter.

Also, with all due respect, we created the Bulldog. Ya'll cloned it.

While NOLA is certainly not a "craft beer town", it's improving.

I would suspect most college towns are more hip to the craft beer scene then non college towns.

I didn't attend Zapp's last year. My honey-do shower was on that day. Not my choice. but i did go to the beefest in champions square. It was a huge disappointment.

And, apparently, i won't be able to make it to Zapp's this year either because i have 2 friends getting married on the same day. That is, if Zapp's is still on March 29th. (please say it's not)

That's fine. I'm not starting a BR vs. NOLA thread. Just curious why there is a lack of craft beer in NOLA.

In comparison, New Orleans is a cocktail town.
