So, I went to Gautreau's last weekend and it was superb. One of the top 10 meals in a restaurant of my life for sure.

I am curious to know what some of the best dishes of ya'lls lives were.

You know, its not just what I got. It's the ambiance, the perfect service, and all the details being taken care of.... I literally did not have a single complaint (I worked in various restaurants and can be quite critical at moments). I was also in excellent company, which helps too.

We started off with the seared scallops, which were perfectly cooked. They had balsamic soaked grapes and golden raisins and crushed almonds adding acidity, sweetness, and texture for a perfect balance.

Also had a poached shrimp with avocado and some sort of yogurt sauce which was nice.

we all had a roasted butternut squash soup with crab and caviar.

I didnt taste anyone else's dish, but I had grouper over stewed eggplant and habeneros with a harissa sauce garnished with fried chick peas.

and a blackberry shortcake with a meyere lemon cream and toasteed hazelnut brittle for dessert.

had a moscow mule with first course. mara 2011 pinot noir for main course and an ice wine with dessert.

I was in Kyoto Japan 5 months ago and had a 7 course meal, 5 courses involved kobe beef. Between meal, presentation, ambiance, and delicious sake it was about as good as I have ever had. I couldn't tell you the name of the place, you had to order your meal a day in advance to eat there so they could get the freshest possible stuff to prepare it. I considered that legit.

If you ever find yourself in NYC, have lunch at Le Bernardin. Expensive, but phenomenal.

I had a top 10 at Gautreau's over 20 years ago. Cafe Tango off 30A produced one a few years back. Had the best suhi ever at Zushi Puzzle in SF back in the summer of 2013.

My ex wife and I had dinner at Lafitte's Landing at a Bittersweet Plantation. For an anniversary. We pulled up and the Vallet asks for my name. It tell him and he says "happy anniversary". Same at reception. Same for the person who brought us water and bread, the waiter, etc... We get our menus and open them and it's a custom printed menu that say sLafitte's ... Would like to wish Mr. And Mrs... A happy anniversary

On to the meal... This was over 10 years ago, but still remember it. Had an amuse of a toast point with quail egg and caviar. Salad was a grilled Caesar, soup was something seafood, and my entree was a smoked pesto stuffed rack of lamb, that is to this day, one of the best prices of meat I've ever eaten.

If the dish was a cold one, the fork was chilled. If it was a warm one, the fork was warmed.

We had a soufflé for desert and the chef had written "happy anniversary" on the underplate in chocolate sauce.

John Folse's accent makes me want to shoot myself in the head, but he knows how to do fine dining for sure.

I'll give you 4

Sashimi Tuna, and Kobe Beef - Shima Restaurant - Tokyo

Antelope meat pies (turnovers) at Camp Restaurant in North Camp (Sinamatella Camp) of Hwange National Park (above Lukosi river) in Zimbabwe

Truth is, its hard to beat a Sonic Brown Bag Special with strawberry shakes and tater tots on a Saturday night after a full day of yard work.

and a #4 Taco Bell is mighty good too.

Smothered Pork chops in brown gravy over rice with cornbread at the Hop-in gas station on Highland Rd.

I like going to nice restaurants but so far have not been blown away by anything as best meal I have ever had. I am putting my faith in August whenever I get around to trying it.

My 30th birthday party when I had Clancy's reserved for the entire night is number one. That AMEX bill was a doozy.

Best actual meal was at Nobu in Manhattan. Was at the 2001 US Open. My ex had a broken foot and was too tired to go. We had reservations for 8:00 and I called to say I would be dining solo.

Holy shite, I just asked them to bring me stuff. It was unreal.

Customized 7 course meal Super Bowl weekend at Mr John's when my friend was executive chef. Everything was top notch

Tru in Chicago

Maybe because both of those were in the last few years but those are the two that stand out the most.
