2 friends of mine have just gotten into running hardcore. They are both up to about 15 miles or so.

When they told me about bleeding nipples????

I thought "frick That" anything that makes your nipples bleed has to be bad for you. It is a warning mechanism for your body.

That's the part that concerns me - combination of wind, weather, rain. Otherwise perfect weather.

That you are gonna die. I walked in midway through their discussion and had not heard the part about the dry tech shirt material rubbing and getting heavy with perspiration before it dries.

I just heard bleeding nipples. Which is disturbing.

Nah, he'll still warm up quickly.

I ran the Baton Rouge Beach half when it was 30ish and spitting rain around the start.

I went with a $5 sweatshirt, over a tech shirt with long sleeve Under Armour and gloves (and shorts.) Ditch the sweatshirt when you warm up, and if your hands get too warm, tuck the gloves in your waistband.

You can probably skip the UA in those temps.

Can someone meet you at the halfway point with a dry shirt?

re: OT Runners: Cold, Rainy Weather

I couldn't remember who was running the Houston Marathon! Glad I found this.

OK so I'm a girl runner and a wimpy one but at that temp I start with a singlet with a long sleeve shirt over it and gloves (wouldn't use those if it wasn't 15 mph wind) ... I typically end up typing the shirt around my waist and tuck my gloves in there (they clip together).

And I agree with the possibility of if someone can meet you half way with a dry shirt!

Let me add, glad I don't have to worry about bleeding nipples ... but I don't get why the tech shirts cause that??

GO DUNC GO!!!

I would often run with a long sleeve cotton shirt over a tech shirt. Ditch top layer if get too warm.

re: OT Runners: Cold, Rainy Weather

Not planning on wearing gloves - hands haven't been a problem in the past. I'll probably do sleeveless tech under a long sleeve tech. I have a feeling that might get warm, but I can always ditch the shirt or at least pull sleeves up. I'm tempted to do just long sleeve and switch to a short sleeve later if needed (will leave one with the wife). Appreciate everyone's input.

Yes, good luck and let us know how it goes. And you don't get your stuff back if you just ditch it, right??? I know that the NO Jazz Half picks it up and donates it ... I LOVE MY STUFF! I'd have to buy something cheap to just ditch it.

RUN DUNC RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
