Way back in October, LSU’s Sierra Ballard came to the realization that she did not want the 2024 gymnastics season to be her last.
Turns out, she will not. The Tigers senior announced Monday that she will exercise her option for a fifth year in 2025.
“It was a pretty easy decision for me,” Ballard said. “I ended up recruiting myself actually. I decided that whatever we did at the end (of the 2024 season) I was committed to coming back.”
Ballard was an integral part of LSU breaking through to win its first NCAA gymnastics title.
With LSU trailing Utah by 0.0375 points going into the last rotation of the NCAA final on April 20, Ballard led off the Tigers on balance beam with a career high 9.95 score. Her performance set the tone for an NCAA finals record 49.7625 by LSU in the event, carrying the team to a 198.225-197.850 win over runner-up California.

Still to make their decisions public are several LSU gymnasts, including Kiya Johnson, Olivia Dunne, Chase Brock and Alyona Shchennikova.

This team next year is going to be sick. They will be better than this year if they can stay healthy.

She's already more successful and accomplished than someone named Uncle Diddles. Just imagine how far ahead of you she'll be with another year of college gymnastics and a degree.

Her dad and family own Ballard brands, which owns PJs and several other businesses. At worst, she can be extremely successful in family business or make bank in gymnastics on the Northshore.

still, that’s a bit dramatic of a declaration, it implies she’s postponing a certain lucrative career in professional gymnastics as a first round draft pick to stay at LSU for another year

You are a sad excuse for a man. I’m only assuming your older that she is. You are definitely less accomplished than an ncaa national champion. You click a story that’ll you’ll tell us don’t care about but take time to shite on. She’s coming back to further her education and win another national championship for the college you claim to cheer for and you’ll be changing oil at jiffy lube.

Not dramatic at all except to you apparently and she wasn’t implying anything other than that she had pretty much already decided she was going to stay. Obviously, she could probably move on and be successful in business (family or other) but decided to continue competing for LSU instead. Thanks young lady!
