I'm going scouting for teal next week in the Marsh and would like to try my luck with some redfish. What kind of lures are best for the marsh (6"-4' of water)?

Thanks.

Dynamite works good in the marsh at those debts. Also clears out a pond real quick for you to hunt!

Weedless gold spoons or a rubber cocahoe with a spinner.

Spot remover. It gets at least as many bites as a spoon, plus you hook up over 95% of the time. Spoons result in a lot of misses.

These have been the ticket the last year or so. Change out the bodies to find the right color.

Like the others said, weedless spoons are good. My fav this year is the H&H "Seceret". Always bring a spinner, you can pull it slower and stay shallow. Also throw a baby 1 minus in the box it only dives two inches and can be a blast on reds.

Do you change out the hooks?

Not usually. I do however cut the leading hook from the front treble to help it be a little more weedless

Gold spoon

hard to beat.... weedless and enters the water quietly, reds love that flash.
also, the curly tail chartruese grub gulp by berkley. Its my secret weapon, they tear that sum bitch up. bounce it off the bottom along the banks right off the drop off....
also, in the morning if its flat a top dog is amazing. If you want to experience something crazy, do this and watch a red explode on one....

Gold Spoon and Cocahoe with a spinner are both good choices.

I've caught several on regular bass spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits (gold/black or silver/black).

Large beetle spins is all I use in the marsh for reds. Works really good.

LINK

Similar to this but I put together my own..

I like LSU Bayou Chubs or Black and Chart Chubs. with mullet jighead with no color and redeye.

These are the best spinnerbaits for reds that I have found:

Bayou Buck Lures

They can really take the abuse a redfish puts on a bait. I usually put the LSU Bayou Chub tail on it.

I'd love to slow roll that thing in the deep short grass at Toledo in February.

This is true. One of the most exciting fishing you can experience is when reds are tearing up a topwater bait.

I've only fished in the Marsh once unfortunately but I caught a bunch on a gulp shrimp on a bass assassin jig head under a paradise popper.

Also, caught several on an gulp jerk shad.
