re: Proudest moment of your outdoor life - Fifthstring
As a parent there are multiple times when you sit back and watch your kids truely enjoy something outdoors, like pulling in bream after bream for the first time, and hearing their laughs of joy. As an individual, winning my fist "big" redfish tourney after 2 years of trying really hard and comin...

re: 24 Volt 70lb Thrust vs. 36 Volt 112lb Thrust Trolling Motor - Fifthstring
probably at close to $500 more by the time you get everything. That's not negligible IMO.
This! I'll also add that your on board charger will have to also be larger, adding another $$. Bigger is not always necessary, in the case it may depend on your fishing habits/styles ...

re: Find Your Own fish!!!!!............... (Rant) - Fifthstring
a-hole starts up his motor drives to within 25 feet of us,
There was a time when I trout fished regularly in GI and Fourchon and I would keep an old rod and reel handy that had at least a 1 oz jig head on it. If you got that close, then said jig head would appear from the sky in...

re: IFA Redfish Open - Houma, LA - Fifthstring
I use a large livewell and have pure oxygen in a high pressure cylinder through a diffuser block. There are a number of reasons I do this and it works for me, have not had a dead fish in 3 years at weigh-in. Fished a number of bass tourney in my past and two upper slot reds are harder to keep aliv...
You can have a 100% efficiency and still lose top speed if the prop is blowing out.
Physics will not allow a senario such as this, but I belive I agree in principle with what you are saying. And yes we are assuming the tach is accurate. ...

re: Kenner boat mph question - calling meajeaux2 - Fifthstring
I believe its a slip issue and not a pitch issue. if its says 21" then the math shows its a slip issue. you need to borrow someone elses prop, and see how the #;s come out slip wise compared to what you are doing now. 21P with 10% slip is 52 mph
THIS!!!...

re: Kenner boat mph question - calling meajeaux2 - Fifthstring
I'm fairly certain it's a 1.87 gear ratio, so my opinion stands. Try to improve your prop slip by finding a prop expert and giving him all your numbers of the boat, motor, and on water performance...

re: Kenner boat mph question - calling meajeaux2 - Fifthstring
Is your gear ration on that engine 1.87? If so, with a 21 pitch prop, 5500 rpms, and speed of 42 mph, you are getting some significant prop slip at 28%. Talk to some prop experts about your set-up, could make a world of difference for you ...

re: columbia fishing shoes - Fifthstring
just purchsed my second pair of Columbia PFG Drainmakers. Love them. My first lasted almost 4 years of pretty hard fishing and other wear. Had trampled through some nasty marsh in them due to sticking the boat in the mud a few times, hosed them off, threw em in the washing machine, good as new......

re: Need some boat battery recommendations - Fifthstring

re: Need some boat battery recommendations - Fifthstring
A good on board charger and a perko switch is the way to go. If you have 3 total batteries get the 3 bank charger. Minn Kota or Dual Pro are the most popular ones. Run all electronics EXCEPT the bilge through the Perko switch. At the end of the day turn off the switch, plug in the charger, and t...
