re: Attaboy Chase Landry - poule deau
[link=(http://www.boatus.com/seaworthy/magazine/2015/october/boat-wake-damage-liability.asp)]LINK[/link] Interesting read.
First, courts have ruled that when a vessel's wake collides with another vessel and causes damage, Rule (6) of the Inland Rules applies. This rule provides that eac...

re: Attaboy Chase Landry - poule deau
You can not stop and fish where ever you want and expect people to slow down for you.
You are always responsible for your wake and if it presents a hazard you are supposed to adjust (course, speed, etc). That's what I have always understood. ...

re: Attaboy Chase Landry - poule deau
If you park your boat in a navigation canal you can't expect commercial vessels to slow down for you
maritime rules suggest otherwise. I know courtesy and common sense need to be exercised by all on the water but sometimes its one sided....

re: Attaboy Chase Landry - poule deau
While I don't condone shooting at people over stupid stuff, I am sure most of us have been in the situation where some idiot has put you in danger because he was unaware, or just didn't care, about his wake. I can easily understand how this incident could occur....
True, but they use the bend in the road and sharp drop to shoot you when you're doing 65-70 in a 65 and write the ticket as you cross into the 55 MPH zone
Yes, they do some pull some BS in that 55 MPH zone. Honestly, I think it has more to do with the wrecks they have in Patterson...

re: How can I go about exposing a speed trap and racket in Jeanerette/Patterson, LA? - poule deau
the speed limit in Patterson drops from 70 MPH to 55 MPH.
Not quite accurate- east bound, it drops at the Calumet Cut from 70 to 65 and then in Patterson it drops to 55. Patterson cops make a living on 90. Used to be much worse....
