Is a 720p HDTV good enough for video games?

I'm thinking about getting a TV to play XBOX only. Would a 720p panasonic plasma be good enough? Don't want to spend the extra cash on a 1080p.

How big? Anything under 42" you won't be able to tell the difference between 720 and 1080.

i use a proscan 32 inch 720p and i cannot tell the diff between that and my other friends more expensive one. All i use it for is ps3 and it works just fine. Esp since not all the games you play will be in 1080p anyways.

Yep.

If you're really just getting it for video games, you don't need the 1080.

Funny you started this thread, I bought the same exact TV a week ago, only I sprung for the 1080p.

Got it for $699 at Sears, too good a deal to pass up for a 1080p Plasma.

You know, i've always heard this and always assumed it was true.

But looking at the same Panasonic Vierra 42 inch plasma in 720 and 1080p at Best Buy, you could very easily tell a difference.

So, now I don't really believe that general statement about the 42 inch and below any more.

I absolutely love it, and the best part is, I haven't even watched a blu-ray to use the 1080p.

I've been real busy with family in town and new house renovations.

But regular HDTV and PS3 games look absolutely amazing.

I have a 46 inch Sony Wega as well, not too old, maybe 3 years. And even without seeing 1080 yet, it is unreal just how much better the picture is when playing NCAA 2010, lol.

The "game mode" feature is pretty sweet as well.

They had it online, but I went and picked it up.

Same 1080p is showing for $759 now on Sears's website, i believe.
