O.K. makes great yaks. They are however a bit narrower than some of the other fishing designs so standing in one isn't nearly as easy. The trade off is that they are a bit easier to paddle and marginally faster.

I have no desire to stand up in one. That just sounds silly, I can be perfectly content fishing all day sitting on my arse.

you say that now, but trust me, the ability to stand comes in quite handy at times

from sight fishing, to taking a piss, to just standing up and stretching

Wait until you fish for 10 hours

Sitting gets old fast

You've never fished from a kayak before.

Until you have to piss or need to stretch your back/legs.

I always just beached a rented kayak or got out in shallow water if I got stiff or needed to piss.

Even balls deep is being nice about it.

In Venice a few years ago my buddy lost one of his high dollar bait in the marsh grass. He thought he was gonna get out and wade to it. He sank damn near neck deep. We ended up having to pull him out by throwing him the tie rope and gun it it in reverse.

How difficult is it to marsh fish (reds) from? I would imagine if you can stand much easier..I bet some of those bigger reds will drag your arse all around before you land him.

they never horsed me too good. I just use my kayak as the drag and yank em on in. Haven't lost one due to breaking the drag or anything.

I prefer marsh redfishing from a kayak now. and yes standing is WAAAY better IMO

99% of my kayak fishing is solely for redfish. I need to stand to sight fish and see them tailing. It's a huge advantage. You can also see through the water much better from above.

Standing is overrated. I want speed and tracking to get to far off spots with less effort. A boat you can stand in is hard to paddle, and you can't go far. if you are fishing close to the launch, they can be ok.

Some guy in BCKFC won a KC and paddled to the sulphur mines at PAC. Almost died. Put it up for sale shortly after.

OK makes nice boats, though they tend to be heavy. Good tracking and fishability though.

The best of both worlds is the Jackson Cuda! I've got one and love it. I can keep up with anyone except maybe the Hobie (mirage drive) and I can stand up easily.

Can't wait to demo every kayak under the sun this summer. My dad's best friends with the owner of Massey's so I can "demo" any kayak i want whenever i want
