re: What's the weirdest thing someone has stolen from you? - SpeckledTiger
After the flood, I had a large pile of salvageable items piled up under my carport. Against the wall was the piece of wood that was once the top of my wife's dresser. The rest of the dresser was swollen beyond repair so I figured I'd have the top turned into a commemorative table of some kind. Someo...

re: Tool Storage: Peg Board or Drawers? - SpeckledTiger
Are you a woodworker?
More of a tinkerer. I enjoy building and fixing stuff but I don't have any tools for legit woodworking. I have a miter saw, table saw, and hope to get a good router and table set up soon so I can start learning to do small wood pieces....

Tool Storage: Peg Board or Drawers? - SpeckledTiger
We are FINALLY seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of our flood renovations so I'm starting to think of what I want to do to my shop/storage room when we get back in. I'm adding shelves to some walls of course, going to have a 5' workbench on the wall with the window, but the question is, do I...

re: Tropical Storm Cindy - SpeckledTiger
The August flood gave us 24"+ of rain in 48-60 hours. This is going to give us 8-10" in 72 hours. This is also coming in a more wave like pattern so there may be breaks that allow for drainage. We didn't get those breaks in August....

re: Businesses that you can't figure out how they stay in business. - SpeckledTiger
Residential general contractors. They are glorified secretaries that make schedules for employees they have no effective control over. They only survive because return customers are, naturally, a rarity and it's too much of a pain in the arse to find a new one once you inevitably realize yours is ...

re: Alabama food stamp drops 85%....cant be posted enough - SpeckledTiger
Because it saves money to do it that way
Only because the government doesn't know how to run an efficient operation. It is easier though. If it saved money automatically, there'd be no profit margin for the private contractor. You are correct if we are talking about each small pari...

re: Are Razors With Four Blades Really More Effective? - SpeckledTiger
I've been looking at these safety razors for a while now. Tired of spending the money on the Gillette multi-blade stuff. My neck breaks out pretty easy because of ingrown hairs around a few jagged scars on my neck (had a meeting with a windshield about 12 years ago). Will one of these safety razors ...

re: Generator questions - SpeckledTiger
I just bought this one to use as a home backup. I liked that it had a 50 amp plug. We don't have natural gas in my neighborhood so gasoline was my only option. It's small enough that I can easily roll it in my trailer if I need it for use away from home. The electric start worked right out of the bo...

re: Amazed no one here is talking about the flooding that is coming - SpeckledTiger
The only thing that concerns me about any of this is that they actually predicted a lot less than what we actually got last year
This! I'm not scared of the rain, I'm afraid of the incompetence of those who are trusted to know when to warn me. They've missed more than a few major...
