Definitely one of the easier kayaks to stand in.

Because it is a SINK, you can use the gunnels to help you stand. I've found that SOT's benefit from having some type of pull-up rope that facilitates easier standing. (like found on Jackson's and the Diablo)

The Ultimate can definitely hold alot of gear. . . sometimes too much Kayaking is typically seen as a minimalist sport, but I find that I bring alot of crap with me in the Ultimate that I never use, but since I have the room . . .

I bought it used from Geaux Smoke for 1200. It had only been used a couple of times. It's got a rudder on it too.

I haven't really compared it in size to the Hobie. It is a big boat though. You want to have a buddy to help tote it or park close to the water for sure. I got the tandem so my boy could fish with me.

The best of both worlds is the Jackson Cuda! I've got one and love it.

I am currently looking into getting one. It looks like a behemoth, how difficult is it to transport around. Also where did you purchase yours from?

the 14' Cuda is a bit heavy, but they just made a 12' Cuda that should be easier to handle for one person

I'm looking at the Jackson Kayak website now and saw that. I've only ever paddled 10'-12' yaks does the extra 2 ft make a difference?

Off LA1 in Leeville/Fourchon anywhere. As long as they have enough shoulder to pull over.

Also go launch at the public launch in Fourchon. They have marsh over there and always some reds.

All of my favorite spots( not just la1) are combat launches off the road. Puts you right into the thick of things

I would go with a 12. 14 is unnecessary for light fishing gear and probably heavier for ninja launching.

My buddy knows terry from Terry's bait shop really well in leeville. He always launches at the bait shop.

I mostly fish the coastal marshes between Golden Meadow and Fourchon....

I started in a 12' Pelican Castaway, upgraded to a Ride 135, sold that to get a Malibu Stealth 12....I have since sold the Stealth 12 and went back to a Ride 135. I found the extra length had a big difference in performance. I will never have anything under 13 feet again.
