re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - ZacAttack
It's just a deer hair popper I bought, sort of looks like a dahlberg diver. It turns over every time and will track straight. I'll take a picture tomorrow, someone may know what it's called. Kayak was a used sit on top that I borrowed for the morning not sure brand. Am on the hunt for a good o...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - ZacAttack
Caught a few bass on a popper frog early this morning. Little 5 wt rod got a work out. Then my kayak sprung a leak and my morning got real interesting real quick. ...

re: Anyone here carve decoys? - ZacAttack
Of the woods I've used I prefer cedar for carving. It's super easy to work with, will sand very smooth (balsa and some other woods will not sand smooth and are always rough). Cedar floats very well, takes paint good and will hold a screw like nobody's business. ...

re: Anyone here carve decoys? - ZacAttack
Never carved decoys, but I've carved a ton of wooden lures. Your first ones will look like shite. Just keep at it. My advice: Start simple, don't go all crazy detailed on the first ones Watch videos on YouTube There's some very good books on decoy carving, I have one by LeMaster that's pr...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - ZacAttack
Thanks. Pretty excited about tying some. I try to buy everything I can from little river outfitters in the smokey mountains. Caught 3 largemouth the other day on a popping bug I bought. Was exhilarating seeing them rise and just suck the lure in. Not very big maybe 1.5 to 2 lbs, had my 5wt ...

re: It's never too late to read the classics, brah. - ZacAttack
Moby Dick
Most overrated book ever. The story is fine, but the book has hundreds of pages on the technical aspects of whaling that have nothing to do with the actual plot. ...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - ZacAttack
Ordered my first fly tying kit. Got one of the BPS kits for bass. Probably not the best quality stuff but Figured it was an expensive way to dabble in tying to see if I like it. Has a vice, other tools, materials and instructional video on several flies. ...

re: Anyone incubate their own chicken eggs? - ZacAttack
Sounds like you'll only have 3 Them if all of the eggs were set at the same time. There is a shite ton of things to go wrong during incubation, too hot, too cold, low humidity, high humidity, not turned enough etc. The best thing to do is performed what Is called a hatch residue. Candle the eggs to...

re: The Fly Fishing Thread: Questions, pics, discussion all here - ZacAttack
Definitely going bigger (pike, stripers etc). I have a lighter 5 wt right now that I've been using for trout. Are the Orvis Clearwater rods and reels good quality? I don't want to break the bank but I don't want to buy some junk and these are in my price range. ...

Gander mountain going out of business sale - ZacAttack
Anybody know what the sale prices are? I can't find an ad or anything on their website. Just a big "going out of business" picture. If they are doing 50% I might can actually afford something there. ...

re: The Official Kayak Thread - ZacAttack
Interesting and it's made in the USA. I'll have to look into those. How does it handle rapids and fast moving water? Most of what I have to fish around here is small rivers. One more reason I've been looking at a sit in, don't want all my Gear sitting on an open deck. ...

re: The Official Kayak Thread - ZacAttack
Now that's a bare bones yak. How much did that run you? Have you done any customization or just left it as is? I had always just looked at the sit on tops, as that seems to be the most popular. However, my local outdoors shop had a Jackson Kilroy that I really liked. Now I'm torn. ...
