I think you're better off rubbing real corn all over something for the scent rather than plastic corn

Was written up ten years ago with no corn on ground (turkey season). Field was considered baited for 12 days after the last grain of bait is gone.

Note: I didn't bait the field, so I had no way to know it was "baited" since the corn had been gone for a couple days before I hunted there.

My cousin just asked his supervisor this question over the phone. After explaining it to him he said you can be ticketed for baiting and that colored plywood or tin submerged in water is considered baiting "material"

obviously you don't make the laws or write the tickets, so I'm not arguing with YOU, but that seems like such bullshite. Not bullshite in the sense that you're lying, but in the fact that its ridiculous.

the way the guy explained it in the op is that he would put it in a pond that never had bait in it. That's like putting an empty, battery-less feeder in a food plot that has never had corn. never has corn been on the site but a device that can be used for corn is put there and it can be illegal?

I agree but Ive heard of people getting ticketed for yellow tin in their pot holes before. I happened to be with my cuz today and asked him. He said it was baiting and that he's ticketed people for the same thing before. His supervisor confirmed. That's all I got

Game wardens are not the most intelligent sorr out there so i am not even sure if they know about nuances like this. I do know that when they are unsure, they still write the ticket.

I have heard of some folks being ticketed for this somewhere in MS. I read it on MSDUCKS.com

Removing the bait the day before the season is enough for a ticket. All bait must be removed 14 days prior to the season.

Damn, why can't you guys just straight up hunt instead of always trying to figure out how to circumnavigate the law?

Counselor: "mr. Greenjeans, did you find salt, grain, or other feed distributed or otherwise present in the area that day or on any day previously?"

Geenjeans: "No, I found a white board, and that white board...

Counselor: "Objection, non-responsive."

Magistrate: "Sustained. Greenjeans, you are to answer counselor's questions and not stray from the question asked."

Counselor: "So Greenjeans, you found a white board submerged in water with out the presence of salt, grain, or other feed?"

Geenjeans: "Yes, that is correct."

Counselor: "Your honor, we move for a dismissal, and will institute a 1983 action immedietly. We ask the court to warn the witness-the witness had rights."

Magistrate: "Charges dismissed. Bailiff, please escort Greenjeans to a holding cell, the witness had rights."

Illegal.

For those that dont duck hunt, laws are much more strenious..... Migratory birds are federal game.

Dont bait fields, or attempt to fool a duck into thinking it was baited. Same punishment.
