re: Black panther sighting - Nodust
[quote]Assuming a black cougar were possible, which it isn't, there would be lots and lots and lots of brown ones sighted for every black. As it is now, there's what? 1 seen every few years at most? The number of black panther sightings in La make me embarrassed for the people of our state. [/quo...

re: Closest Mountain Trip from Nola - Nodust
North Georgia just a little over 10 hours I think has bigger mountains than ozarks. GSMNP would be higher and just a little longer. Big bend National park has some 8k mountains also. I think that's a nine hour drive. ...

8 miles there is like 12 or more on flat ground. If you can walk 12 on flat ground nonstop you should be good for 8 there. Just plan on 1 to 1.5 per hour. ...

Just park at Hightower gap and shuttle to Amicalola. Hike to car. If you get done early you can drive to Neel gap and hike up Blood Mountain for a side trip. If not you may have to hurry to catch a shuttle early afternoon or be waiting for a few hours for a shuttle. Or just hitch back which ...

Good advice in here. I'll add going solo is fun on the AT. Or any trail for me. I like having someone else but solo is a really cool experience. You will meet a ton of hikers on the AT and hikers are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. It's just a hike like any other trail. Bu...
