re: Spinoff: Outdoor related falsehoods people believe - Teague
I agree the physics just don't match and redtail hawks are not carrying off most cats and dogs. It is possible for it to occur with some of the teacup dog breeds and with kittens often weighing less than 2 lbs. However, I think most people are poor at bird identification and have seen pics li...

re: Spinoff: Outdoor related falsehoods people believe - Teague
I get all worked up because I've had to argue with people about hawks carrying off beagles too many times. But, just as a reference, the traps used by most falconers to trap red tails weigh around 3lbs (if you buy one and don't make your own). These traps just snag the hawk's feet. They're free t...

re: Spinoff: Outdoor related falsehoods people believe - Teague
Oh good grief.
I'm just saying, there's a conspicuous lack of photos of hawks up in the air carrying squirrels. I have hundreds of videos where I could freeze them at the right moment, and get a "photo" of a hawk "carrying" a squirrel. Two seconds later, they were on the ground....
A big grey squirrel might weigh much over a pound, right?
A really big one might get close to 2 lbs. I think the average adult would weight 1-1.5. ...

re: Spinoff: Outdoor related falsehoods people believe - Teague
Only one of those is more than a foot off the ground, and for all we know, he just exited the top of a big oak with it. Like I said, a big hawk can probably carry a small squirrel. But, I'm telling you, they're not flying off with anything over 2 lbs. ...
They may not carry, but there are lots of confirmed attacks on small dogs. This one would have eaten that Yorkie
That's a trained Harris' Hawk, that is apparently being used as an abatement bird. Harris' hawks are almost always chamber raised (the ones used for falconry) and hav...
Must depend on the squirrel because there's lots of pics with red-tails flying just fine with them.
There are some small squirrels out there. There are some half-eaten squirrels out there too. See if you can find a photo of a red tailed hawk, up in the air with a full grown sq...
I'm going to side with the resident hawk master as to the abilities of hawks.
 Thanks. I may not be the leading expert on most things on this forum, but if any of these sumbitches wants to argue with me about Red-tailed Hawks, he better know what he's talking about. A...

re: This year with Avery Johnson proves just how bad Anthony Grant was - Teague
I have nothing against Grant, but he's just not a good head coach, which was obvious after a couple of years. Avery has made a team full of role players into a tough out. The plays, the adjustments, the players' confidence, and the cohesiveness of the team are far better than they were under Grant. ...

re: tOfficial Alabama Basketball Season Thread | 14-9 (5-6) | #BuckleUp - Teague
Good win last night. I missed most of it because it was my wife's birthday. But, I did catch about the last 10 minutes of the second half. We got a little conservative there, but glad they hung on. I consider the "lucky" two missed free throws that sealed the win to be payback for the 6 steps th...
