Mine was terrible. 7 hunts and only 15 birds, 3 of which were never found. Went several Saturday mornings and decided to go deer hunting Sunday because there were literally no birds in the area. Hoping the second split will be much better.

That's pretty much what I'm dealing with, I need the river to get to 28' in BR before I will be able to hunt it from what I'm told. There's a big food plot planted that was holding birds last year when we went to look at it in Feb.

Same on this end i need that ATCH to come up another couple feet bfore the spots in the basin ar worth the effort. Second split always better in NELA for me at least so maybe all this cold will have them down south. Sure wish I had access to the deer clubs inside the MS river levee like you taling bout. I would be jumping for joy when the water come up while the deer hunters cry about their season bieng over

In Creole we was slaughtering them until the big rains came through the weekend before the split ended. Mostly Greys

16 hunts in my blind in the oppening 23 days. Picked up an estimated 120 birds. That number could VERY easily be 175 with some shooters. I made 3 more hunts away from my blind and got a limit each of those times. One of the best first splits weve had in out blind.

I think we've hunted 17 times, averaging around 18 birds/hunt.

Times are good

Where are you hunting? I think I met you looking at another lease around Klondike this year.

We will eclipse 200 birds 2morro to finish the 1st split. Pretty weak on big birds tho. Overall an average 1st 15 days. Think we have 14 hunts.

Very good first split for my group. Limited on all hunts. I made 9 hunts, our group in the camp made 24 pretty solid.

7 hunts. first 6 in basin. last one on Yancy WMA.

1st (solo): 3 woodies
2nd (solo): 3 woodies, 1 bwt
3rd (solo): 3 woodies
4th (me and maimed brother who can only shoot left handed one hand because of shoulder surgery on right arm): 1 woodie
5th (me and cripple again): 6 woodies (lost a mallard)
6th: (me and gf): 0
7th: (solo): 0 plus 3 fox squirrels

ETA: this is my first time hunting first split, so i guess it's both my best and worst ever first split.

Our lease at Bayou Penchant/Bayou Chene south of Morgan City has been incredibly slow. Very unusual for us. The 1st weekend was abysmal and since we have been shooting near limits and limits, but basically we gotta shoot everything that comes to us. All Teal, mostly Blue Wing, well with a spooner or two thrown in. Very strange year thus far.
