Rub camphopheniqe over the affected area. Will numb the itching and kill the little bastards.

My ankles are chewed to shite by those bastards. I've started using this stuff called New-Skin Liquid Bandage. It's like medicated fingernail polish. It helps with the itch.

I wonder if treating my sneakers with permethrin would keep them off my ankles.

I've never tried it but I know 2 brothers who work outdoors along pipeline rights-of-way who swear that duct taping the bottoms of their pants and wearing dog flea collars around their ankles works pretty well.

Subtle brag (that more than 1 will fit).

+1 on the Campho-Phenique..used to work when I was a kid.

Hair dryer as hot as you can stand feels amazing (not on pecker).

Those little bastards are Satan's spawn.

I feel for you brother...

Granny used to put a cup of bleach in our bath water to help with itching. Don't really know if it helped or not.
I put 3 or 4 cups. Seriously. I don't measure but pour out of a gallon. If I don't feel it make my skin slippery, I add more. Do I smell the bleach after? Dam right but helluva psych advantage on the itching.

I feel for you. I had a bad case for about 40 days a couple of years ago. It was hell. I only had some relief in a hot shower

Picked up some nail polish at the dollar general this morning. Haven't itch much today. Probably because I woke up at 4am scratching most of the bites until I was bleeding.

Take a long soak in a swimming pool, chlorine will take care of them quickly. BTW, beer should be involved in the soaking process.

Always worked for me

Arm and hammer baking soda in bath water. Half to whole box. Soak. Old country remedy. Works too.

Itching can be treated with topical antipruritics such as menthol or calamine lotion. Potent topical corticosteroids may help to improve both itching and inflammation [15]. Application of the topical corticosteroid with occlusion (eg, under plastic wrap) may improve the efficacy of topical corticosteroid treatment [3]. Oral sedating antihistamines (eg, hydroxyzine, diphenhydramine) may help to improve pruritus. (See "Pruritus: Overview of management", section on 'Antihistamines'.)

Intralesional corticosteroid injections (eg, 2.5 to 5 mg/mL of triamcinolone acetonide) may be beneficial for reducing inflammation in individual papules that fail to resolve with topical therapy [3]. However, treatment with intralesional corticosteroid injections typically is not necessary.

Other interventions — Since the mites do not burrow into the skin and the pruritic eruption usually starts after the mites have already detached from the skin, interventions to eradicate the mites from the skin (eg, acaricides or home remedies aimed at suffocating the mites, such as applying nail polish) are not indicated.

Dang, that brings back memories of when I was a kid. Mama would fill up a #2 washtub with bleach water and make us soak in it. Don't remember if it helped or not? I do remember how miserable those things make you feel, though. Little boys always got em bad around the waistline and gonads. At least, I always did. I feel your pain!

I bet it won't be for a few days.

As for advice, try to find some of the cheap fingernail polish remover... the kind with a high concentration of acetone. Acetone will sting like hell for about 5 min, but it will clear up the itch in record time. It will also help the bites heal faster.
